KOLOM DEBUTANIZER DAN REBOILER PADA PLANT LPGF

A. Proses Singkat Sistem Debutanizer


The De-Butanizer (LPG Column) will separate the C3 and C4 components from the C5 +
component contained in the feed from the bottom product De-propanizer Column. The De-
Butanizer Column consists of 3 parts, the upper part is called the Rectification Section, the bottom
is called Stripping Section and the bottom of the column is called Heating and Product Withdrawal
Section.

The feedback from the De-propanizer Column consisting of C3, C4 and C5 + contents goes
into the De-Butanizer Column through the 4th tray of the top of the Stripping Section as a 2-phase
blend. Liquid feed down through a number of Tray to Heating Section, then this liquid is heated
in Reboiler to be evaporated using Hot Oil. The temperature conditions in Reboiler are ± 305oF
and pressure ± 150 Psig. The heating vapor from the Reboiler will then re-enter the column and
flow upwards through a number of Trays, which will heat the fluid that descends through the same
Tray-Tray. The Condensate component (C5 +), then flows past the Weir into the Product
Withdrawal Section, and exits through the Level control to Condensate Cooler to cool before being
delivered into the Condensate Storage tank. For steam-shaped feeds in the form of components C3
and C4 at entry into the column will be mixed with hot steam coming from Reboiler, and flow up
the column through Rectification Section, then to Condenser or fan cooler (428- H-06) with
temperature condition ± 170oF to change the phase from vapor to liquid with air cooling medium,
then Condenser output (428- H-06) with temperature condition ± 150oF and pressure ± 135 Psig
flow to reflux drum (482-V-08). The result of this drum reflux is partially pumped with Pump (482-
P-04 A / B) to be refluxed back to the De-Butanizer column and flows downward, then heated by
steam that flows upward in the Rectification Section, while some will be in Blending with Product
from De-Propanizer column to become LPG Product, previously passed through Condenser or
fan cooler (428-H-06). Here is a picture of PFD from Debutanizer system process in LPGF plant.

In the PFD image of the Debutanizer column system, there are flag streams that have

Tension

The stream name represents the material of the fluid that describes the composition and
the physical properties of the fluid. Seen in each stream has a material of a fluid whose
composition and physical properties of the fluid vary in value. Also with the above sheet, we
can see what products will be generated by looking at the stream name on the PFD and
compared with the data sheet.

2. SURFACE PROPERTIES
1. SURFACE PROPERTIES DEBUTANIZER COLUMN

In table surface properties of the debutant column, it appears that


Debutanizer column has a tag number 482-V-07, with size 1400 x 34903 mm. This
Debutanizer column, made of carbon steel material with a design pressure of 10
barg and design temperature of -29 to 155 0C.
2. SURFACE PROPERTIES DEBUTANIZER REBOILER

In the surface table of debutanizer reboiler, it appears that Debutanizer column


has 482-H-07 tag number, with boiler kettle type. This Debutanizer column, made of
carbon steel material with Design Duty 1282 kW.

C. DESKRIPSI PENGGOLONGAN CLASS, DIVISI, DAN GRUP


Based on the P & ID classification results, the Debutanizer column system belongs to Class
1 because the types of flammable substances are flammable gases, vapors, and liquids. In the
process implemented by the Debutanizer column system uses flammable gases. It is further
classified into the following divisions and gas groups:
1. In the Debutanizer distillation column, division 1 is in the tank, because flammable
gases are under normal operation in the process. Then, division 2 is in the around of
the tank because it is in the area closest to division 1.
2. On reboiler debutanizer, there are 2 divisions of division 1 & 2. Where division 1 is in
reboiler because flammable gases are under normal operation and division 2 is around
reboiler.
3. Then, above the tank there is a PSV safety system, PSV safety system belonging to
division 1 because the gas is likely to explode inside the pipe.
4. After PSV, the gas will be discharged to the HP Flare Header, in the process
belonging to division 2, because the gas may explode as it is close to adequate
ventilation.
5. At the bottom of the distillation column Debutanizer there is a shutdown valve as a
safety, but if there is a failure of security, gas may be explosive due to valve leakage
so it can be classified into division 2.
6. The by pass valve system is also classified in divisions 1 & 2. Where division 1 is in
the area around the control valve, because the gas may explode under normal
operation of the process. However, if there is a leak in the valve there may be a fire
caused by the existing ventilation. So around control valve is division 2.
7. For gas groups, all processes in P & ID belong to group D, since the processed gas
contains propane and butane.
