Date: 16 de noviembre del 2018 Plant´s nutrition 1.How do plants get nourished? (description ) A total of only 16 elements are essential for the growth and full development of higher green plants These criteria are: ¾ A deficiency of an essential nutrient makes it impossible for the plant to complete the vegetative or reproductive stage of its life cycle. ¾ Such deficiency is specific to the element in question and can be prevented or corrected only by supplying this element. ¾ The element is involved directly in the nutrition of the plant quite apart from its possible effects in correcting some unfavourable microbiological or chemical condition of the soil or other culture medium. 2. What functions do nitrogen, phosphous and potassium have in plant? N is a part of the chlorophyll (the green pigment in leaves) and is an essential constituent of all proteins. It is responsible for the dark green colour of stem and leaves, vigorous growth, branching/tillering, leaf production, size enlargement, and yield formation. . P is essential for growth, cell division, root lengthening, seed and fruit development, and early ripening. It is a part of several compounds including oils and amino acids.
K is involved in the working of more than 60 enzymes, in photosynthesis and
the movement of its products (photosynthates) to storage organs (seeds, tubers, roots and fruits). 3. How are plants affected because the lack / de ficiency of nitrogen /potassium and phosphorus
4. How do fertigation work? (description)
It is therefore a matter of taking advantage of the RLAF (High Frequency Localized Irrigation) systems to apply the necessary nutrients to the plants. Despite being used in multiple RLAF systems, the technique of fertigation is fully extended in the case of drip irrigation. 1. ¿Cómo se nutren las plantas?
