The basics: Changes can only be made if a file is checked out ( + ). Files can only be checked out in WIP states. Parts can only be
ordered if the drawings are in a Released state. Change states as need ( + ). In order to go from WIP to Released a Review is
required. Go through the production or pre-production loops as needed, the revision will bump/increment each time.
Design Study: Have something that you are just messing around with? This is the place. You can check out files here. (No Revision)
Preproduction: Want to release something to get a quote? Or create a prototype? (Numeric Revision)
Custom Release: One-offs, 100% custom. Don’t know whether to go Custom or Preproduction? Go preproduction. (Numeric Revision)
Engineering Release: Going to mass production? Ordering large quantities? Better be in Engineering Released. (Alpha Revision)
If you are reviewing make sure you have the latest version of all files. *This is particularly important because when you release the drawing
a PDF will be created automatically using the version that you have.*
Check naming convention, part geometry, revision description, and over-all drawing consistency
For peer review reviewer has to choose pre-production release or custom release. Submitter should let them know which.
Ultimately the submitter still has ownership over the drawing. It is the submitter’s responsibility to make sure their drawing gets reviewed,
corrected, and released. Ask someone to review your drawings. Do not assume you are done when you submit it for review!
EOL: If a file has ever been revisioned do not delete. Change state to EOL instead.
