A. Professional Goals
 Goal
#1. I plan to engage in career long learning by observing different teaching styles through
collaborating with colleagues.
Rationale: I am going to partake and observe in a diverse range of classes to experience
how varying teaching styles can affect a student positively.

 Goal
#2. Establishing an inclusive learning environment will be addressed by my “non-
negotiables” in class.
Rationale: The rules encourage an environment of respect for each other and
themselves. Listening critically to those around them, allows students to expand their
perspective on the definition of acceptance.

B. Strategies and Indicators

 Strategies for addressing Goal #1:
I. I will observe four teachers in a span of three months.
II. I will go into each class a minimum of three times.
III. I will make observations in a journal during class.
IV. After class, I will discuss with the teacher their approach to class and any
strategies they used.
V. Indicators of success: I will create a blog about the similarities and differences
between each teacher. I will also note how those strategies affected the
students in a positive light

 Strategies for addressing Goal #2:

I. I will teach the students about “Following the L.I.G.H.T”
a. Listen: Respect means to listen to yourself and others. How are you
feeling emotionally? How can we address that? What cues are we picking
up?
b. Inquire: when you don’t know ask. This includes when you have a conflict
with others, ask them before you go around gossiping or creating drama.
c. Gumption: you make sensible decisions; you are brave and willing to
disagree or take charge. You take initiative and have courage
d. Hear: Be here, be present. It means not talking while others are talking.
Giving each other respect while they perform by watching attentively. The
ability to be critical of others and yourself through observation.
e. Transitions: It means completing transitions in an orderly fashion, making
sure we are watching our time management and using time effectively.
II. I will rotate, focusing on one rule in each class.
III. I will jot down a few notes about the students’ behaviour during the day.
IV. Depending on which ones they struggle with, I will integrate activities that work
on the rules.
V. Indicators of success: I will create three rubrics that assess the students’ ability
to meet the criteria. One will be formative and two will be summative. I will
give feedback after the first two assessments.
