Lace Ribbing
(multiple of 10 sts)
Rnd 1: * Ssk, yo, k3, yo, k2tog, p3; rep from * to
end.
Rnd 2: * K7, p3; rep from * to end.
Rnd 3: * K2, yo, sl2-k1-p2sso, yo, k2, p3; rep from
* to end.
Rnd 4: * K7, p3; rep from * to end.
Rep Rnds 1-4 for patt.
1x1 RPC: Slip next st to cable ndl and hold in back,
k1 from left ndl, p1 from cable ndl.
1x1 LPC: Slip next st to cable ndl and hold in front,

Shape Crown

rem.
Rnd 2: * K5, p3; rep from * to end.
Rnd 3: * K3, k2tog, p2tog, p1; rep from * to end – 48
sts rem.

Depth: 7½” Count 28 sts from beg of rnd. Join yarn with sl st in
Brim Circumference: 20” next st.
Row 1 (RS): Sc in each of next 2 sts, hdc in each of
next 2 sts, dc in each of next 2 sts, [2 dc in next st] 12
times, dc in each of next 2 sts, hdc in each of next 2
sts, sc in each of next 2 sts, sl st in each of next 6 sts,
turn.
Row 2 (WS): Sc in each of next 2 sts, hdc in each of
next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 36 sts, 2
dc in next st, hdc in each of next 2 sts, sc in each of
next 2 sts, sl st in each of next 4 sts, turn.

HONEYCOMB SKI CAP
Depth: 8½” (not including Ties or Tassels) Separate Earflaps
Brim Circumference: 20” Next row: Work Row 1 of Earflap chart over 12 sts,
turn. Place rem sts on holder. Work Rows 2-15 of
Earflap chart. Bind off rem sts. Attach yarn to right
hand side of held sts. Bind off 20 sts, work Row 1 of
Earflap chart over rem 12 sts. Complete as for first
Earflap.

FINISHING
Edging
With crochet hook, work single crochet along the
entire lower edge of Hat, along Front, Back, and each
Earflap.
Tassels (make 2)
Wrap yarn 50 times around a 2” piece of cardboard.
Slip another 8” piece of yarn through the center of
the strands and tie in a knot to secure. Cut the other
edge of the wrapped strands to free the tassel from
the cardboard. Set aside.
Ties (make 2)
Cut 12 strands of yarn, 10” long. Separate into 3
groups of 4 strands each. Braid the 3 groups together.
Sew one end to bottom of Earflap. Sew a Tassel to the
other end.
Weave in ends. Sew a Pom-Pom to top of hat.
Crown
Cast on 9 sts to dpns. Divide among ndls and join
to work in the rnd. Knit 1 rnd.
Shape Crown
Rnd 1: * Kfb; rep from * to last st, end k1 – 17 sts.
Rnd 2: Knit.
Rnd 3: * Kfb; rep from * to end – 34 sts.
Rnd 4: * K1, p1; rep from * to end.
Rnd 5: * K1, pfb; rep from * to end – 51 sts.
Rnd 6: * K1, p2; rep from * to end.
Rnd 7: * K1, p2, m1; rep from * to end – 68 sts.
Rnd 8: * K1, p2, k1; rep from * to end.

Hat Body
Work Rows 1-8 of Honeycomb patt, 4 times, then
work Rows 1-2, 1 more time.

Lower Hat
Next row: Bind off next 24 sts (front sts), work in
patt to end – 44 sts rem.
Work back and forth in patt over rem sts for 7
rows, ending with WS row 2 of patt.
