Unit 1 - Development of Colombian Education in the XXI Century
Steps, Phase or Stage of the Learning Strategy to Develop
In this activity students develop the following steps:
Step 1: The people vs. the School System
Step 2: Fishbone diagram
Step 3: Submission
Task-based learning strategy: The course uses the Task-Based
Language Learning as a methodological background offering
interactive and enjoyable activities for the students where the foreign
language is used with the aim of achieving a communicative outcome
(Willis, 1996). The tasks are organized in learning stages (steps),
where the students develop competencies through tasks and practical
activities.
Activities to Develop
Step 1 – The people vs. the School System: Watch the 8 minutes’
video “The People vs. the School System” at
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqTTojTija8 or listen to it at
https://soundcloud.com/prince-ea/we-just-sued-the-school-system
Use the structure to the fishbone diagram to state causes and possible
solutions.
Create a head, which lists the problem or issue to be considered.
Create a backbone for the fish (straight line which leads to the head).
Identify at least three “causes” that contribute to the problem.
Connect these four causes with arrows to the spine. These will create
the first bones of the fish. Write statements to describe the causes.
Then state possible solutions to the causes that contribute to the
problem and connect them to the spine. Write statements to describe
the solutions.
Example:

In a document add the fishbone diagram and submit it through the
monitoring and evaluation environment.
