Self-Reflective Essay

My name is Nuraqila Binti Zaidan. My group members are Nur Laila Khalisa who participated
in editing the video. Next, Che Nur Syibrah who take part in preparing the slides that we need
to go throughout in making the video smooth and well. Besides that, Nur Hidayah and Ezleen
Batrisya and me participated in looking for the information about the company itself and
served the information to the group members and explain to them what it is all about. We
decided to choose the Meiden Metal Engineering Company was because we wanted to gained
more knowledge in the industry manufacturing. Apart from that, we also interested to see
how they produce their products from raw materials to the finished good. Before that, before
we decided to go to the company we also have made some research about the company so
that we are not went there with zero knowledge. At least, we do have some information what
the company is all about. They freely welcomed us and entertained us by giving us some new
knowledge and experiences.

What I have learned from this project is on how a single product can be produced and how
the raw materials can transform to the finished good. As the Meiden Metal Engineering is a
company that produce a radiator that support electricity substantial that shipped to Japan,
they bought their raw materials which is main art coil from Japan because of the quality of
the coil. They once imported the coil from China but the quality of the coil does not last long
and will cause leaking in the radiator that made the radiator cannot survive for the long-term
usage. Here I can say that every quality products need a high investment and to produce a
high quality product we need a high quality materials too. Besides that, the skills that acquired
from this project is I found that, besides we have a knowledge about the machines and the
equipment we also do need to have the skills on how to operate and handle the machine. In
Meiden Metal Engineering every machines they must have 2-3 persons to handle every
machines in different departments. If the machines having a serious breakdown then the
engineer will come to check and if the engineer failed to recover then they will called their
own maintenance to repair the damage. What I have got here was, we should have knowledge
in everything that we do so that we can reduce the defect and when we are a skilful person
we no longer worries about the job. Besides that, we can use our skills as our benefits when
we enter to the new job but in the same field.
Besides the knowledge about the products produced, I also can get benefits from this which
is I can experience itself the production of the radiator. To produce a single radiator they
needs more or less 1 week if it is not urgent and they have to go through few stages before
the radiator shipped to Japan. A single radiator can last long until 10 years approximately.
Apart from that, I grateful enough because my team members contribute their ideas,
information and energy into this project so well. Everyone participated in this project and
giving their best to make this project successful and to score this paper. How do we gathered
the information was by delegated the tasks which are provide the questions to ask, record
the video along the interview and the site visit, find the information about the company and
then we gathered the information in the slides and make a video about it.

Every project has their own strengthens and weakness, for this project what I like about it
because I can travel out from my comfort zone which was always interview the corporate
person but this time I manage interview the engineer in the company at the same time I
witnessed itself the process in the production of radiator. The company also gives their best
to help up into this project and they entertained us very well. What I dislike about this project
absolutely nothing because this project helps student to be extrovert and can make student
out from their comfort zone.

As for me, everyone in the group have giving their best in this project. They also contribute
financially, mentally and physically and I am beyond thankful for my group members. We do
our best to meet the requirement provided. What can I recommend is maybe for other
semester the UITM’ s Management can bring the students to do the site visit in the big and
established manufacturing company such as aircraft because this kind of activity will
eventually can give students an extra knowledge in operations management.
