“几” can be only used before measure words, “多” can be used before or after measure

3. Pivotal Sentences
The predicate of a pivotal sentence is made up of two verbal phrases, the object of the
first verb being the subject of the second. The first verb is often a causative verb, such as
“qǐng 请”(to invite), “ràng 让”(to let)and “jiào 叫”(to ask). For example:

4. Reduplication of Verbs
The reduplicative form of a verb indicates a short time, a small quantity, a slight degree
or an attempt, conveying a relaxed and casual mood. It is often used in spoken Chinese

1. Complements of Result
Some verbs or adjectives can be used after a verb to add remarks about the result of an
action. They are called complements of result. For example:

wǒ tīnɡ dǒnɡ jīntiān de hànyǔkè le 。
我 听 懂 今天 的 汉语课 了 。
wǒ zuò hǎo fàn le 。
我 做 好 饭 了。
Dàwèi zhǎo dào ɡōnɡzuò le 。
大卫 找 到 工作 了 。
“méi(yǒu)” is added before the verb to form the negative form of a complement of result,
in which case “le” cannot appear at the end of the sentence. For example:
wǒ méiyǒu kànjiàn nǐde nǚpénɡyou
我 没有 看见 你的 女朋友
wǒ méi tīnɡdǒnɡ tā shuō de huà
我 没 听懂 他 说 的 话
wǒ méi zuòwán kǎoshìtí
我没 做完 考试题
To form a question, “(le)méiyǒu” is often added at the end of the sentence. For
example:
nǐ kànjiàn wǒde nǚpénɡyou le méiyǒu ?
你 看见 我的 女朋友 了 没有 ?
nǐ tīnɡdǒnɡ tā shuō de huà méiyǒu ?
你 听懂 他 说 的 话 没有 ?
nǐ (dōu )zuòwán (kǎoshìtí )le méiyǒu ?
你 (都 )做完 (考试题 )了 没有 ?

1. A Verb (Phrase) Used as an Attributive Modifier
When a verb or verb phrase is used as an attributive modifier, “de 的” should be put
between the modifier and the word modified. For example:

1. The Structural Particle”guò 过”
A verb followed by the structural particle “过” usually indicates a past experience action
which hasn’t lasted to the present. For example:
tāmen lái ɡuò wǒjiā 。
他们 来 过 我家 。
wǒ kàn ɡuò nàɡè diànyǐnɡ 。
我 看 过 那个 电影 。
wǒ qù ɡuò zhōnɡɡuó 。
我 去 过 中国 。
In the negative form, “méi (yǒu)” is added before the verb. For example:
tāmen méi (yǒu )láiɡuò wǒjiā 。
他们 没 (有 )来过 我家 。
wǒ méi (yǒu )kànɡuò nàɡè diànyǐnɡ 。
我 没 (有 )看过 那个 电影 。
wǒ méi (yǒu )qùɡuò zhōnɡɡuó 。
我 没 (有 )去过 中国 。
In the interrogative form, “méiyǒu” is added at the end of the sentence. For example:
tāmen láiɡuò nǐjiā méiyǒu ?
他们 来过 你家 没有 ?
nǐ kànɡuò nàɡè diànyǐnɡ méiyǒu ?
你 看过 那个 电影 没有 ?
nǐ qùɡuò zhōnɡɡuó méiyǒu ?
