4 Our Differentiators
4.1 Execute quality work with minimum inputs
We understand the cruciality of our customer’s time and purpose. Our team is structured and organized to
support our clients in design and fabrication assignments in fully integrated manner with close coordination
within our design and execution teams.

As we have our in-house design capability our clients could save considerable time in detailed engineering
by just offloading us the basic engineering drawings, technical specifications and quality specifications of
the project. If the quality specifications are not set, our client can just overlook our standard Quality
Assurance Plan (QAP) and add or remove their additional inputs during order finalization specifically for
material handling systems. We can also offer to develop basic engineering documents from the finalized
concept and get the approval done from our clients for detailed Engineering. This approach is highly
beneficial for our EPC clients to shoulder schedule bound projects.

In times, we work parallel with our client’s planning team to attain achievable results by diligent project
scheduling and therefore plan and synchronize our activities to streamline with the project goal.

4.2 Execute work integrated with Mechanical components

Our team is capable to supply technological structures assembled with mechanical components in shop-
assembled condition which usually improves quality and accuracy levels compared to site-based execution
and leads to save considerable cost and time at site and avoids major re-works.

Our approach results in

▪ Less site fabrication manhours

▪ Reduces warehousing cost
▪ Our client to focus primarily on erection and commissioning.

4.3 Engineering & Design of Long and High-Speed Conveyors

Our expertise in designing long and high-speed belt conveyors involves systematic approach to optimize
the power required and belt tension distribution along the conveyor belt. With the help of softwares and
various papers the transient effects on structures during starting and stopping of long conveyors are
studied in 3-dimensional approach to optimize and save belt costs.

Our team can use powerful softwares such as Helix, Beltstat, Simulation X etc., in-order to achieve the
dynamic analysis for long belt conveyors. In past we have executed belt conveyors having the length of 3
km.

4.4 Material Chute Geometry

Material chutes are critical for success of any large-scale bulk material handling plants. Bad transfer chute
design not only costs itself but incurs huge productivity loss and having significant impact in system’s
success.

Ficus got access to various papers pertaining to the Discrete Element Modelling and access to powerful
software resources like EDEM on assignment basis to simulate the transfer chute’s design. Together with
these resources we analyse the flow path of materials, behaviours and three-dimensional material
trajectories. With the real-time simulation capabilities, our designer can arrive at a best possible geometry
and alternatives and produce user-level video outputs for better understanding and prompt design of
chutes resulting in optimized chute geometry.

4.5 Optimum design for ROM Hoppers

ROM hoppers are crucial for performance in any mines. The pull-out forces from the bottom feeders are
arrived usually by designing in empirical conservative approach by most of the Engineers. This resulting in
oversizing of the drives by ~60% which means incurring significant cost in CAPEX.

Our team having access to various field experts paper, the ROM hoppers are designed in an integrated
manner where the hopper’s geometrical parameters are interlinked and simulated numerically with belt
feeder to design the hopper’s optimum geometry and power requirements. The hoppers are provided with
V-shedder plates and drafted openings to reduce the residual tension on the bottom belt.

4.6 Tripper Belt Profile

We have access to a research paper developed by field experts which
enables our team to design tripper belt’s profile at the starting of the
curve by geometrically profiling with the series of combination of
convex and concave profiles. This reduces the empty belt lift-off in
trippers and keeps the belt bottom intact with the idlers. In some
cases, the empty belt hold-down pulleys can be eliminated fully.

Having a hold down pulley in the system will increases belt resistance
and power consumption whereas it reduces belt life due to the belt is being constantly wearing out due to
the contact with hold down pulley.

4.7 3-Dimensional Designing of Infrastructure (BIM Environment)

Designing of layouts and developing detailed drawings in
2D drawing environment is becoming outdated and
overruled by 3D design environment. In 3D environment,
it is highly effective to define all the design sub-
components and assembly in the parametric modeling
which interlinks the design intent and modifies the models
by itself intelligently based on the pre-defined engineering
requirements. Designers initially spends 25% more time than developing 2D drawings in first version.
However, the revision of models and drawings saves considerable time in later stage.

On the other hand, the drawings are highly accurate, the design objectives are clear to all team members
even with limited drawing reading exposure. We possess experience in operating powerful softwares like
Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD 2D/3D and Solidworks.
