How have I developed this competency during this course or professional seminar/field experience?
!
!
In this field experience, I have developed and demonstrated this competency by walking along the
aisle
of students, asking if they needed help to answer a few questions. I would review the subject area
that
the class is studying, so that I am prepared to answer their questions. !
Although this field experience only allowed me to observe, I believe that my hard work ethic helped
develop this competency. My willingness to study the subject that the students are looking into
me
demonstrates
this.

How have I developed this competency during this course or professional seminar/field experience?
!
!
I have developed this competency during this field experience by consistently communicating with my
supervisor and cooperating teacher in the language of instruction, and by correcting several papers to
reduce
the workload of my cooperating teacher. !
By e-mail correspondance, I communicated with my supervisor, so that I can be informed about the host-
school's routine. !
If I had any concerns on classroom etiquette, routine, or management, I would consult my cooperating
teacher.
!
When
correcting students' journals, I would leave a note explaining the reasons why they lost points.

How have I developed this competency during this course or professional seminar/field experience?
!
!
During
this field experience, I have developed this competency by assisting in the supervision during
lunchtime.
Along with my cooperating teacher, we monitored the free period in the computer labs,
supervising
students' work. I have also developed this competency by spending a day with a staff in
Resources. As I observed them addressing behavioral problems in the classroom, I learned different
classroom management skills. I have also communicated with teachers in the staff room and got some
advice
regarding the job of a teacher.!

How have I developed this competency during this course or professional seminar/field experience?
During this field experience, I have developed this competency by keeping a journal of
observations. I reflected on observations and evaluated the teacher's methods of instruction if they are
effective
or not. I also thought of how I would develop my own teaching method based on my
observations. I asked for advice from the teachers in the host-school, listening to their experiences when
they were a student-teacher. To further my knowledge, I read textbook chapters on possible challenges
in
the classroom, teaching methods, classroom management skills, development of my own teacher
identity...
I also reflected on TedxTalk videos viewed in the seminar and listened to other student-teachers
experiences
in their host-school and evaluate how I'd personally react if I was placed in that same
situation. I elaborated to my partner on challenges I faced in this field experience and asked how they
would handle it, so that I can find ways to simmer down the problem. Based on all these resources,
experiences, and reflections, I developed my own teaching philosophy. This is only the start to my
experience
as a student-teacher, and I know that this competency is always a work in progress.

How have I developed this competency during this course or professional seminar/field experience?
During this field experience, I have developed this competency by keeping confidentiality in my
notes
of my observation journal and by remaining a professional attitude towards student-teachers and
teachers
in the host-school.
In my observation journal, I did not write the name of the teachers or students I was observing. In
case
that anyone finds and reads my journal, they would not know who I was writing about. At the end of
my field experience, my supervisor read my journal to evaluate my direct observation.
In my ties with other student-teachers, I remained a professional attitude as we do not always share
the same viewpoint in certain situations. In this scenario, we would each offer suggestions to approach
the challenge, without imposing or condescending one another. In the end, we would agree to disagree
as we all got along.
In my relationships with teachers in the host-school, we had a professional relationship. The host-
school is very welcoming; the teachers are generous to offer us advice regarding our field of study. I
would ask my co-operating teacher if they wanted my partner and I to help with corrections, or directing
group-work discussions, to be aware of their boundaries regarding our involvement in their classroom as
we were there for only five days (in her class).
