1. Why is a woman's choice to stay single hardly accepted by society?


- “Akin ang pasya.
Maliit na kalayaang
Hinahamak ng iba pang
Pagkapiit at pagkaalipin
Sa akiing lipunan.”
- Feminist critics, women was create an ambience that is less overpower by the society
concerning their sex. It also may begin by rating of male superiority by exposing the
presence of this throughout the text, and also because the society known the fact
that every women needs a man.

2. How does the woman in the poem address the societal pressures and biases against
single blessedness? Discuss.
- “Ang pag-iisa’y di pagtalikod sa
pag-ibig, o pagnanasa o pananagutan.
Hindi ito pagsuko
Sa katuparan ng mga pangako
O pagkakatutuo ng mga pangarap.
Hindi pagtanaw sa buhay
Nang hubad sa pag-asa.”
- Spinsters refers to unmarried women whose age are overreach the ideal age of
marriage and is considered unlikely to marry. Apparently, males compared to spinster
are highly regarded and is likely to still marry. Society considers that males who are
older are more capable and stable. And the poem, it answer the negative idea that
society is attaching to them.
