1. When I was young, I love to make friends and socialize to people who are surrounding me.
2. It makes me a man/woman when I can express myself without any halts that could pull me back down,
where I can completely be myself.
3. My friends would always tell me that I am kind and empathetic; someone who they can rely on.
4. The thing that I hate the most being a man/woman is being stereotyped, discriminated against, and
judged before you could ever take your step for your aiming goals in life because of the living prejudice
in this society.
5. It makes me happy when everyone can freely express who and what they are while getting the equal
rights and respect we all deserve.

1. In your own words, define the following terms:

a. Gender
- Gender refers to the dynamic characteristics of men, women, girls and boys that are socially
build associated with social attributes and opportunities. Throughout learning the significance of
gender is in line the norms, behaviors, roles, and relationships between the stated characteristics
in the society. As per, gender will benefit each one as it will provoke an individual to be guided
to explore who they are, develop connections, peer acceptance, and social support. Gender is the
stepping stone for us to have a sense of belongingness and identity through acknowledging its
types: feminine, masculine, common, and neuter, as well as, its subdivisions: gender equality,
gender equity, and gender discrimination. As discussed, it will make us socially aware to what
stances and outlooks should we grasp to not condone unpleasant deeds rather to embrace respect
for one another regardless of gender.

b. Society
- Society is a community that’s comprises of common traditions, beliefs, interests, and institutions.
Society promotes with the aim to develop a good quality life for individuals. Ensuring harmony
and opportunities for the people living together. Throughout, Gender is related to Society as roles
rose, as per the created norms and expectations based upon sex, whether it is through how we
should act, speak, dress, etc. All of the influences that the society imposed in the external
environment are leading to adapted behaviors on everyone.

2. If you were to choose among being a male or female, what will it be? Support your
answer.
- If I were to choose among being a male or a female, I would go for being a female. A female
who can stand on her own and live for her own self free, from doubts of the world no matter how
it tries so hard to torn her down, she will still be seen in the corner standing firmly. In this world
where males are having recognition effortlessly while females, on the other hand, are being
thrown with belittles and being questioned with their abilities especially when it comes to
strength, I want to take the step to put the patriarchy to an end. I want to showcase that there is
nothing wrong and to be weary of being a female just because of the uncontrollable unfortunate
events that could happen, because I believe that our fate is not only depended of what and who
our sexuality is, it is through determination and dedication to step backwards to the things we
can’t control rather to put our hands to the changes we can make. I love being a female; a female

 who have perseverance, who isn’t petrified in this society, and is willing to promote betterment
for all despite of rising encumbrances.

3. How will this subject- Gender & Society help you with the course that you are now
studying?
- Psychology concentrates on behaviors that affect the mental & emotional health and mental
functioning of healthy human beings, and in this generation, we can’t deny that each and every
one of us have different levels of sensitivity; this unsparing society can bleed myriad people
through words. Equality and equity felt like a treasure buried in the lowest depths of the land for
us to pursuit, haplessly, not everyone can embrace it into their grasps. Discrimination is one of
the major reasons of why people suffer in this life and gradually losing a grip towards their
dreams at the same time how their hopes lose its sparks. Gender and Society helps us with this
course that we are now studying to be socially aware of what is happening behind the other side
of the walls, to be more gender sensitive in words and in actions for us to promote and advocate
more appropriately without condoning unpleasant deeds in any case. To be the voice of the
voiceless.

4. How will you help other people who are being discriminated because of their gender?
Cite some examples.
- To stay with them. To stay by their side so, if it’ll happen again, they would have someone who
would stand for them and for so, they wouldn’t feel that they are alone. To check their mental
state daily as possible, we don’t have to ask it in detail especially that it might make them
remember unpleasant memories they are not yet ready to unfold rather with a sole goal to make
them feel that there is still someone who genuinely care for them. Showering them with
compliments and praises naturally would help them to regain their motivation and esteem for
them to get back in track for their aims in life. Actively listen to them once they’ll have the urge
to unlock the broken parts of them and make them feel that all of what they are feeling is valid. If
the situation is getting tougher to handle, it would be best if we’ll accompany them for
professional help; let us be with them in their journey to the steps of healing until the time will
come that they’ll be free from the judgments of the world and bloom beautifully as they grow
flowers in the pit of their holes of bravery.
