ACT I

_____

EXT. CRIME SCENE AT BANKS FRONT ENTRANCE - NIGHT

Cops surround the sight of a bank robbery when a detective

breaks through the crowd surrounding the crime scene, crosses
the police tape, and immediately starts to analyze what had
happened.

Two officers look over to see who crossed the police tape and
immediately put their heads back down.

OFFICER 1
Damn, that's the rookie detective
Chase Walker right? The guy the
department just picked up?

OFFICER 2
Yeah, head he just blazed through the
academy and only did patrol for a few
months before being brought on.

OFFICER 1
He hasn't said a word to anyone yet
and thinks he can just waltz in and
play hero?

OFFICER 2
Hey man chill out, he's doing some
good work! He just solved three of his
first cases in record time so he's
gotta be doing something right!

The new detective looks over at the two officers and walks
over to speak with them.

CHASE
Excuse me, officers!My name is
detective Chase Walker! Could ya point
me to where to lead investigator is
here?

OFFICER 1
Oh uhh I uhhh... well I think...

OFFICER 2
Yeah of course, she's right over here.

The first officer is in a daze while the second one leads

Chase to the lead Investigator inside the Bank.

INT. CRIME SCENE AT THE BANK'S FRONT DESK - NIGHT

Several officers walk to and from a woman in the center of

the room as she discusses what to do next. She glances at
Chase and immediately walks over to him.

FEMALE OFFICER
Ah so your that new detective huh?
Perfect, the name is Sargent Briggs and
you're just in time. We have bits and
pieces figured out but we're not quite
sure how they over powered the guards
on duty.

Chase ignores the officer, looks around and immediately walks

out near the entrance. He walks a few steps outside, looks to
his left and immediately finds a few used syringes. He picks
them up and brigs them back to the lead officer.

CHASE
Look here, i had a hunch once you said
how easily the guards were overpowered
that there might be more to this then
their raw power.

SARGENT BRIGGS
What is it? Some kind of steroid?

CHASE
No, ever hear of something called the
"weird drug"?

SARGENT BRIGGS
uh not recently? Sounds like it could
use a better name though.

CHASE
I'm sure there could be a better name
but that's not whats important. This
drug recently has surfaced and is
quickly overtaking this city. Its
injected much like a steroid of
heroine but instead has an affect that
heightens your sense slightly as well
as your movement.

SARGENT BRIGGS
So its like a super steroid? How are
these dope heads getting it?

Created using Celtx

3.

CHASE
Well I sure wish I could tell ya but
Unfortunately I'm still working on it,
the chief assigned me to finding out
the source of this drug ASAP, that's
why I came here looking for clues.

SARGENT BRIGGS
Well maybe you could help us find
these guys and find a clue along the
way?

CHASE
Nope, sorry, no time. But if I were
you I'd check those tire marks your
boys missed right out front underneath
the news van, might be useful knowing
which direction they went.

Chase chuckles as he walks off and puts the syringes in a

bag. Sargent Briggs roles her eyes as she screams at some
officers to move that news van and follow those tire tracks.

INT. POLICE PRECINCT - DAY

Officers and detectives bustle around as the work on their

cases. Chase walks through the door holding paperwork in his
arms.

CHASE
(laughs)
Well boys I'm another step closer to
solving this damn problem!

JOEY
Yeeeeah sure Chase I bet your right on
their tails!

Chase looks over to Joey and gives him a smirk points his
papers at him.

CHASE
Aw whats the matter Joey, upset that I
solved more cases this week than you
have all month?

JOEY
(scoffs)
It's only the 2nd week of the month

Created using Celtx

4.

rookie why don't ya cool it?

Joey leans back in his seat and takes a sip of his coffee.

CHASE
Hey I'm just giving ya crap! Oh is
there any more coffee left?

JOEY
Huh? I thought you millennial's only
drink chai tea soy lattes or something
like that. But no sorry, you're
looking at the last cup.

CHASE
Damn! Maybe I will go grab one of
those chai tea lattes.

Chase goes to his desk and takes a seat. As he sits down, the
Chief pokes from her office and signals him to come in.

CHIEF ARMSTRONG
Detective Walker, I've got something
for you.

Joey looks over with a smirk on his

JOEY
Ohhh Chase what did ya do this time
jeez

Chief Armstrong turned her head quickly towards Joey.

CHIEF ARMSTRONG
Detective Joey Holdem please refrain
from harassing our new detective until
you have accomplished more than one
task today.

The entire office laughs and gasps at what Chief Armstrong

says.

JOEY
(Grumbles)
Yeah Chief Armstrong, Sorry Chief
Armstrong.

Chase walks into Chief Armstrong's office and takes a seat.

5.

INT. POLICE PRECINCT, CHIEF ARMSTRONG'S OFFICE - DAY

Chief Armstrong closes the door and takes a seat behind her
neatly organized desk.

CHIEF ARMSTRONG
You're on fire rookie, I've Never had
a new detect work as hard as you or
solve as many cases as you have.

Chase interrupts

CHASE
Oh well thank you very much Chief. I
just have a real passion for this work
and I want to make this city of safer
place.

CHIEF ARMSTRONG
(agitated)
You didn't let me finish, while you
may have lot going for you, your still
green.

CHASE
(confused)
oh uhh in what regard?

CHIEF ARMSTRONG
You rush your cases and your paper
work is mediocre at best. You have
very little respect for your fellow
officers, hell it seems you have very
little respect for myself.

CHASE
Well I just have a certain way of
doing thin-

The Chief interrupts

CHIEF ARMSTRONG
While you may have certain way of
doing things detective Walker may I
remind you that you are now in my
precinct and within my precinct you
will follow standards I have set for
you.

CHASE
Y-yes ma'am

Created using Celtx

6.

The door knocks

CHIEF ARMSTRONG
Ah perfect timing, come in!

The door opens and an older detective walks in.

DONOVAN
You wanted to see me Chief?

CHIEF ARMSTRONG
Yes I did, detective Walker meet your
new partner Detective Donovan Briggs.

CHASE
(confused)
Excuse me uh I'm getting a partner?

CHIEF ARMSTRONG
Yes you are, I tasked you with this
"weird drug" case because I know you
can handle this and while my stance on
that in unchanged, I think this
problem I much bigger than we expect
and Detective Briggs is one of the
best we got.

DONOVAN
It's a pleasure to get to work you
Detective Walker.

CHASE
(disappointed)
Oh uh likewise pal.

Chief Armstrong pulls out a few files and hands them to

Donovan.

CHIEF ARMSTRONG
Here are the rest of the leads we have
on this "weird drug". Find the source
and take it down. The side effects of
this drug are already damaging the
human body harder than any drug out
there, it's definitely lethal. Good
luck detectives, dismissed.

The two detectives walk out.

Created using Celtx

7.

INT. POLICE PRECINCT - DAY

Donovan takes out the papers in the file they received and
reviews it, then looks to Chase.

DONOVAN
Detective Walker lets compare notes on
what we have so far and check out
these locations we received. Looks
like there was a recent crime scene we
can investigate as well.

CHASE
(stressed)
Okay listen I'm already waste deep in
trying to solve this and I don't
really need another hand in this.

DONOVAN
Listen to me detective Walke-

Chase interrupts.

CHASE
Just call me Chase please, there isn't
enough time in the day to use full
titles.

Donovan takes Chase by the arm and drags him to a secluded

hallway.

DONOVAN
Chase, I've been in this damn business
to long to have some punk kid tellin
me what to do. I've been apart of this
force for 35 years, I'm black, and i
have dealt with my fair share of
bullshit here. Now I want to solve
this case just as much as you do so
lets buckle down and get to work.

Chase shrugs and takes out some gum as he begins to walk to

his desk.

CHASE
Alright fine, I'll show you my notes
on what I got so far.

Chase and Donovan walk over to compare notes and talk about
what their next move is.

Created using Celtx

8.

DONOVAN
Alright so our move should be going to
this crime scene to see what we can
find.

CHASE
I can't believe there isn't a single
perp we can interrogate for this, the
drug makes people too hard for
officers to catch.

DONOVAN
Really? I can believe that, think
about it. This drug came out of
nowhere and its target audience so far
are thugs that are organized and work
as a team. This stuff doesn't go into
the hands of anyone stupid enough to
get caught without a fight.

CHASE
(annoyed)
Alright then smart guy so you think
that going to this crime scene will
make finding those perps any easier?

DONOVAN
(sternly)
No, but we don't have much to work
with so lets move.

The two detectives walk out and go straight to the scene of a

jewelry store robbery.

EXT. JEWELRY STORE OUTLET AT A MALL - DUSK

Chase and Donovan pull up and begin to look for clues. The
scene is still taped off with a few officers standing by.
People walk around the scene and continue on their days.

CHASE
Damn, that's nice sunset!

DONOVAN
(ignorant)
Yeah wonderful, now lets start looking
while we still have some daylight
left.

Chase searches the front and the surrounding area and notices
some trash cans while Donovan speak with the officers.

Created using Celtx

9.

CHASE
Hey when was the last time these
trashes were taken out?

OFFICER
It hasn't yet, we stopped any
janitorial maintenance the second we
got here.

CHASE
Thank God, usually I'm the one who has
to make that call.

Chase searches the garbage can and finds more broken

syringes.

CHASE
Hey I've got something!

Donovan rushes over the crime scene to Chase.

DONOVAN
What did you find?

CHASE
Syringes, this is what they use to
dope up, a classic method of use.
First you take a shot, then you
perform the action you want, in this
case a robbery.

DONOVAN
Alright lets trace this and get some
DNA.

CHASE
That won't work.

DONOVAN
Why not?

CHASE
The drug is so powerful that our
system can't get an accurate read on
any DNA. And they used gloves so no
finger prints either.

DONOVAN
Well the officer doesn't know anything
other than what the witnesses saw but
the descriptions are too vague to get

Created using Celtx

10.

any more leads.

CHASE
You sure your asking the right
questions?

DONOVAN
(agitated)
Yes I am sure what kind of question is
that?

A person passes by and stops to notice the detectives and

smiles.

PERSON
Any luck over there pigs?

Both Chase and Donovan drop what they are doing and
immediately look over.

PERSON
(laughs)
Uh oh, did I piss you two off? You'll
never solve that crime looking in that
spot!

The person immediately runs off. Chase and Donovan look at

each other shocked and begin pursuit. While mid sprint they
notice this person take out a syringe full of green liquid
and shoots himself up wit it. Chase and Donovan's sprint
increases as they see that.

They run all throughout the mall passing through the food
court, all around the outside portion and own the street.

CHASE
(gasping)
Police! Stop!

The persons movements were near flawless and he cuts through

crowds of people and hops benches and fountains. Chase
continues to run after him while Donovan falls back to his
car and drives after him.

After several blocks the person almost escapes Chase's sight

when Donovan pulls his car right in front of the person who
collides with the vehicle. Donovan cuffs him while Chase
catches up

Created using Celtx

11.

CHASE
(panting)
Damn, how'd you know which street he'd
be on?

DONOVAN
(laughs)

Simple, I just followed your sorry out

of shape ass and figured predicted
where he would be at?

CHASE
(offended)
Out of shape? I didn't see your ass
out there running for too long!

DONOVAN
Work smarter not harder kid.

PERSON
(breathes heavily)
He sure got you there pig.

Donovan presses the man's body to the ground.

DONOVAN
and you have the right to remain
silent, anything you can and will be
used against you in the court of law!

Donovan searches the man and takes his wallet and a knife out
from his back pocket.

PERSON
Yeah you might be right about that,
but that assuming that I will make it
to that court of law. We were curious
to see how you cops would do against
this drug so this was very helpful.

The man then starts to foam from the mouth and faint.

DONOVAN
(angered)
Damn it, the bastard took cyanide!
Call an ambulance!

Just then a car parked near by screeches its tires and drives
off with a suspicious character behind the wheel.

Created using Celtx

12.

Chase instinctively goes for the car until he is stopped by

Donovan.

DONOVAN
Let him go! We can't pursue him now,
we need to take care of this man!

CHASE
Donovan we have to go after that car,
this scumbag was just a test! They are
messing with us!

DONOVAN
I realize that but we need to choose
the harder right in this scenario,
regardless of the actions.

Chase stops and punches the car in frustration.

CHASE
(frustrated)
Damn it! We were so close on a break
through!

They wait for the ambulance to arrive and decide to check the
wallet for any evidence. All there was inside was just two
cards with one word and each that say "Nice" and "Try".

CHASE
Damn it! They're just toying with us!

DONOVAN
Chase I need you to calm down, this
isn't the end.

CHASE
(frustrated)
We were so close, I just needed to be
quicker, stronger, something!

DONOVAN
This is tough part about the job,
often were the ones one step behind.

CHASE
But we could have avoided that if we
just went after that car.

DONOVAN
Chase, you and I both know that's
against the rules.

Created using Celtx

13.

CHASE
Well maybe we need to break the rules
sometimes.

DONOVAN
Listen, lets grab some dinner after
this, I think I have one more thing we
can do to ignite this case for us.

CHASE
(intrigued)
What do you mean?

DONOVAN
I'll tell you over dinner.

The ambulance arrives and takes the body away. Donovan gives
the report to the officers while Chase sits in the car.
Donovan gets in and they drive to a nearby BBQ place.

INT. BBQ RESTAURANT - NIGHT

The restaurant has a classic southern vibe with and outdoor

section. Donovan and Chase request the outdoor section and
the waitress takes their orders and walks off.

CHASE
So what's this next lead you have?

DONOVAN
It's not exactly and lead.

CHASE
OK then, What is it?

DONOVAN
Chase I've been apart of this force
for many years. I've made an effort to
make sure I am following the rules and
getting the job done right.

CHASE
(annoyed)
And what does that have to do with
anything?

DONOVAN
As much as I would like to have done
that a hundred percent, there comes a
time when those rules need to be bent.

Created using Celtx

14.

The waitress comes back with drinks

WAITRESS
OK here's those two cokes you wanted
along with the side of hush puppies!
Your order will be right out soon!

The waitress leaves.

CHASE
Weird how you're drinking coke over
diet coke. Since your little older
now.

DONOVAN
I took care of my body then so I can
do what I want now. Anyways like I
said there are some rules that we
simply need to look pass in order to
make our jobs work.

CHASE
Oh wait you were serious? I coulda
swore that you would never break the
rules after making me not chase after
that car.

DONOVAN
There's dumb way to do things and a
smart way, you've only mastered the
dumb way and without me, the smart way
is impossible for you to achieve.

Chase holds a silent glare as he contemplates the option

while the waitress squeezes pass other customers with two
full plates of food.

CHASE
Wait I cant tell if you're being
legitimately serious.

The waitress walks up and sets the food on their table

WAITRESS
Alright here's that half rack of ribs
meal and a pulled pork sandwich with
slaw.

The waitress notices the troubled looks on their faces.

Created using Celtx

15.

WAITRESS
(concerned)

Oh is there something wrong with the

hush puppies?

DONOVAN
Oh no everything is just fine over
here thank you very much.

CHASE
(sarcastically)

Yeah, everything is just... fine.

The waitress takes a cautious step back.

WAITRESS
Oh ok well y'all hollar if ya need
anything.

The waitress walks off while Donovan leans over to make sure
she is gone and that everyone else is focused on their
conversations.

DONOVAN
(annoyed)

Must you always be like this?

CHASE
Like what?

DONOVAN
Immature.

CHASE
(laughing)

Well considering that you're literally

a fossil compared to me, I think I
have some wiggle room when it comes to
immaturity.

DONOVAN
(sternly)
Well get over yourself and listen. I
don't tell this to anyone but
considering the situation we're in, I
don't have much of a choice.

Created using Celtx

16.

Chase hears the tone of Donovan's voice and sits up straight

and begins to eat his food.

CHASE
Alright I'm listening.

DONOVAN
OK so there's this guy I know..

CHASE
A guy? Wait you mean like a
connection?

DONOVAN
In a way yes, he's not entirely
connected to one source but has little
connections with everyone.

CHASE
Oooh I see, so how did you meet this
guy? You don't seem like the kind of
guy to make friends with people like
that.

DONOVAN
It was during a drug bust several
years back. I was in a bind as we
searched a building. I was caught off
gaurd and held at gun point.

CHASE
(confused)
Wait he held you and gun point?

DONOVAN
No, just a some random dude. My friend
was in the room and was pretty scared
with the fact that the cops were
busting something he had very little
to do with. So he attacked the guy
holding me up and knocked him out,
saving me in the process.

CHASE
Well logically you would arrest both
of them on scene, but what did you do?

DONOVAN
I was still pretty new and pretty
shaken up myself, heh I was probably
around your age actually.

Created using Celtx

17.

CHASE
(agitated)
What are you trying to say?

DONOVAN
(laughing)
Oh it's nothing

CHASE
Alright whatever, continue.

DONOVAN
I decided to let him go because of a
lot of things but overall he has good
intentions. He can be very shady at
times but that is just how people are
sometimes. Hard to explain but the
idea is that you have to have a lot of
patience with others. He told me where
I could find him if I ever needed his
help.

CHASE
(puzzled)
OK so how does this guy help us in
finding the weird drug?

DONOVAN
This "guys" name is Diego and he has
helped me on dozens of cases. The way
he describes his Intel is sketchy but
always spot on. Guess he knows how to
make a friend, hell he made me an
ally.

CHASE
(skeptical)
Alright so you really think some
sketchy drug hustler who you've known
for years because you let him get
away, can get us a solid lead on the
weird drug?

DONOVAN
I didn't hear any denial in that
statement, you must really be
desperate mister "I can do it all".

CHASE
Alright fine ya got me, Ill bite, lets
go see this Diego guy.

Created using Celtx

18.

DONOVAN
Good, lets finish up here and we'll go
straight to him. He's usually free in
the evenings.

CHASE
I bet he is.

Chase and Donovan finish their meals and request the check.

WAITRESS
Alright will that be all for y'all
today?

DONOVAN
oh yes it was delicious, here keep the
change.

Donovan hands the waitress and hundred dollar bill while both
him and Chase leave the booth.

CHASE
(rushed)
Thank you!

They both leave the restaurant and head for Donovan's car.

CHASE
You know that meal even with mine was
only about forty dollars right?

DONOVAN
Son when you become half as smart as
me you realize saving money becomes
your most valuable thing you've done
over the past few years.

CHASE
(smirks)
Good to know!

They climb into the car and rive downtown to where a bunch of
local food truck take up shop.

EXT. TACO TRUCK - NIGHT

Lights strung up on pole hang over several trucks all lined

up together with a few people at each one while a few others
eat at the bench tables while music plays. Donovan and Chase
walk up to the taco truck on the very end.

Created using Celtx

19.

CHASE
Hey we just ate literally 15 minutes
ago, what are we doing at this taco
truck? Don't get me wrong i love tacos
but I'm stuffed right now.

DONOVAN
Hush up and you'll see.

Donovan knocks on the wall of the truck three distinct times

and the burly man at the window moves to the side. In his
place appears a scrappy man with messy hair.

DIEGO
(surprised)
Ayyyyyye if it isn't my man Donovan
what a surprise its been too long!

DONOVAN
Yes it has Diego, how are you?

DIEGO
Ehhh the business could be better but
me and Paco here are keepin this truck
alive man! Aye Paco say hello to these
guys!!

The tall burly man leans over from his station.

PACO
(quietly)
Hello.

DIEGO
(laughs)
Aye don't worry about him he's always
a little shy at first.

DONOVAN
Hello Paco, good to see you again!

PACO
(quietly)
You too detective.

DIEGO
(loudly)
Ahhhhh no need to be so formal Paco
you know Donovan hahaaaa.

Diego notices Chase standing next to Donovan

Created using Celtx

20.

DIEGO
Aye Donovan, who's the gringo you
brought?

DONOVAN
He's my partner, we are working an
important case together. Thats
actually why we came tongiht.

DIEGO
Ahhhh I see now. Ok come on in.

Diego goes back into the truck and opens a door to the side
and another door to the back.

DIEGO
Come one to our back area! We will
have a little more privacy here.

Donovan leads Chase into the taco truck. They suqeeze by

Paco's massive body and make it to the back where Diego sets
up a few chairs.

DIEGO
Hey you all thirsty? I got authentic
Mexican coke, jarritos, my own
horchata?

DONOVAN
Ill have some of that horchata, that
stuff is delicious!

Chase elbows Donovan

CHASE
(whispers)
Don't take questionable liquid from
this guy are you kidding me?

DONOVAN
(whipsers)
Shut up and be nice, It's actually
really good.

DIEGO
(proudly)
Ahhh a wiseman! And for you gringo?

CHASE
Oh uhh I guess I'll take some of that
stuff too I guess.

Created using Celtx

21.

DIEGO
Ahhh excellent! You're teaching this
man well Donovan!

Diego goes back to the truck and grabs a big pitcher full of
horchata. He pours some glasses and hands them to Donovan and
then to Chase

CHASE
(confused)
Wait how did you know I was new?

DIEGO
(confidently)
Well for starters you're naive, i mean
you just accepted some random liquid
from some greasy Mexican.

CHASE
(agitated)
Didn't you just praise Donovan for my
decision though?

DIEGO
I guess that's true, but you also told
me you were young when I called you
out on it. You asked "how did you
know". Doesn't take a detective to
figure that one out.

Donovan laughs before he drinks his horchata while Chase sits

and begrudgingly takes a sip out of his glass.

DIEGO
Aye come down there gringo I'm just
poking some fun ya know? Whats your
name friend?

CHASE
The name is Chase.

DIEGO
Ah well detective Chase my name is
Diego and I'm the fine owner of this
prestigious place of business. How do
you like your career so far friend?

CHASE
Well I didn't think it would take me
to a random taco truck full of who
knows what kind of diseases and bugs.

Created using Celtx

22.

DIEGO
(laughs)
Ahahah no worries friend, that just
adds to the charm and flavor of
everything!

CHASE
(annoyed)
Oh great...

Diego walk over to Chase.

DIEGO
Is there a problem here mister Chase?

CHASE
Hmm? No problem here, everything just
falls under what I thought of when I
saw this place.

DIEGO
(aggressively)
Oh so you think you can just assume
the absolute worst out of a Mexican
because of his place of business just
because of your suspicions?

Diego stands right in front of Chase. Chase and Diego stare

at each other in silence. A drop of sweat drops from Chase's
forehead.

DIEGO
(laughs)
Because you'd be exactly right with
that one! Oooooh I like you Chase,
Finally someone as spicy as Donovan
when he was young!

CHASE
(relieved)
phew you had me going there man!

DIEGO
Aye its what I do best my friend!

DONOVAN
Well as much as I'd hate to intrude on
this wonderful get together, we do
have business to get down to.

Created using Celtx

23.

DIEGO
Ah yes, that's right. What seems to be
the issue friends.

DONOVAN
Diego you ever hear of something
called the weird drug?

DIEGO
Oh yes, that definitely rings a bell.

CHASE
What can you tell us about it?

DIEGO
Hmmmm that is a tough one for sure.
It's been on the streets for such a
short time yet its already causing
mayhem in the drug underworld.

DONOVAN
What kind of mayhem?

Diego pulls up and chair and sits down.

DIEGO
Well for starters, other drugs are
totally obsolete. No one wants the
usually cocaine, heroin, meth, you
name it. All that stuff brings a huge
amount of risk to your body and
poisons it, at least that's the excuse
people use.

CHASE
Yeah but the weird drug is even worse
for your body!

DIEGO
Yes I know, The issue is that those
problems don't show up until later
compared to other drugs. Plus a lot of
those drug addicts are just looking
for the next best high so they could
care less at this point.

DONOVAN
That makes sense but what do we know
now about its production.

Created using Celtx

24.

DIEGO
Well form what I know, it comes form
one source.

CHASE
What do you mean one source?

DIEGO
As in it only comes from a single
source, no one knows how to replicate
it. Not even you guys huh? Or else you
would be coming here.

DONOVAN
the chemicals involved mess with our
system and we can't pinpoint anything
specific.

DIEGO
Yeah that sound about right. I don't
know too much other than its a group.
A man with a plan and a bunch of
lackeys to boot.

CHASE
Sounds like this dude has money then,
or else he wouldn't be able to pull
this off.

DIEGO
Oh yeah the people involved get paid
real well too. I maybe could have been
apart of that but the second I saw
what the drug can do, I knew it was
bad news with the aftermath. Could you
imagine if there wasn't any back fire
with a drug like that, society could
be a whole lot different for sure.

CHASE
How come you see the issue with the
weird drug but nothing else?

DIEGO
Hey man even a guy like me has
standards. Ain't that right Paco!

Paco leans in front of the door.

Created using Celtx

25.

PACO
(quietly)
Si

DIEGO
But overall its bad for business when
it comes to anything as far as illegal
deals go. Weapons aren't too useful
anymore and just about every drug out
there has dropped in relevance since
the weird drug appeared. Hell its
almost got full control over the
streets at this point.

DONOVAN
Damn, do you know anywhere it could be
being made?

DIEGO
Hmm unfortunately this time around
I've only got rumors that are floating
around, I wish I had more for you. I
probably want this stuff outta here
more than you guys do, It's bad for
business.

DONOVAN
We'll take anything we can get really.

DIEGO
OK well I hear that there is an old
abandoned factory near the old
district of the docks. Hasn't been
used in years but there's been some
activity going on over there recently
but I'm not sure what it could be.

CHASE
A factory? I figured it would be a
lab.

DIEGO
Oh no my friend, this is much bigger
than you've seen trust me. That
factory is probably your best bet.

DONOVAN
OK gotcha, we'll check it out. Is
there anything else you can tell us?

DIEGO
Nothing more other than make sure you
got some heavy artillery, those
drugged up goons are pretty dangerous.
Hell I doubt Paco would have an easy
time with them.

Donovan motions to leave and gets up from his seat and sets
his glass down.

DONOVAN
OK good to know. Thank you Diego, lets
grab lunch soon and catch up.

DIEGO
Hey anytime my friends, if you ever
need anything eel free to call! Paco
will come running and I'll be right
behind him, maybe!

CHASE
Good to meet you friend!

DIEGO
Ah you too Chase!

CHASE
(jokes)
Oh I was talking to Paco

DIEGO
(laughs)
Ahhhhh you sly dog, you come back soon
I want to get to know you more!

Chase and Donovan leave from the side of the taco truck and
get into Donovan's car.

INT. DONOVAN'S CAR - NIGHT

The parking lot is almost empty as they are one of the few
cars left.

DONOVAN
Well that took longer than I thought
but we finally got something!

CHASE
He's a cool guy! I guess I now have
access to him since he likes me and
all now huh?

DONOVAN
Don't get too cocky, try to actually
be a good detective for awhile before
relying on him. It could do you some
good.

Chase shrugs and looks out the window.

CHASE
So we've gotten this far, lets go a
little further!

Donovan looks over to Chase

DONOVAN
(confused)
Huh? what do you mean?

CHASE
I mean lets go check out that
abandoned factory. We could answer a
lot of questions tonight!

Donovan turns his head facing ahead and turns the car on.

DONOVAN
Absolutely not, we've got no idea if
its even legit and if it is we are no
where close to enough man power to
take it on.

Donovan backs out and begins driving back to the station

CHASE
Come on I thought you trusted Diego.

DONOVAN
I do, but I also trust how much of an
idiot he can be so I'm always
skeptical.

CHASE
So you'd let the case of the century
wait one more day all based on
skepticism?

DONOVAN
Yes because it's the smart thing to
do! What are we going to just burst in
gun blazing and stop everything in a
heroic fashion?

Chase leans back in his seat looking ahead.

CHASE
Well, yeah? How else are we suppose to
do it?

DONOVAN
Well for starters we can think about
how idiotic that sounds. Then realize
the magnitude of what were facing
here.

CHASE
What we are facing are a bunch of
cowards who got lucky with a good
drug.

DONOVAN
(angrily)
No we are facing an organized group
who knows how to work the system and
take control.

CHASE
(upset)
Aren't you tired of crime just doing
whatever it wants when ever it wants
around this city? Because I'm sick of
it!

DONOVAN
Kid I feel the same way, but we can
let crime get the better of our
emotions, once that happens then we
have lost.

Donovan stops the car at a light and looks at Chase

DONOVAN
Listen, We have to be organized and
smart about how we go about this whole
thing. That's one thing crime has
always lacked and is why we as law
enforcers come out on top. If we lose
that advantage and control, then we
are no better than them.

The light turns green and Donovan hits the gas and focuses on
driving.

CHASE
There is no way we would end up like
them what makes you even think that?
We are the ones that hold the badge
and we are the ones who keep this
place safe.

DONOVAN
Yeah that may be true, but holding
that badge means we follow a set of
rules that keep us one step ahead of
everyone else.

CHASE
But what if we could be two steps
ahead?

DONOVAN
Then I guess that'd be pretty nice,
but we don't have that luxury.

Donovan drives into the the police station parking lot and
pulls up next to Chase's car.

CHASE
Alright fine, I'll wait it out.

DONOVAN
Good, It's OK, we'll check out the
place tomorrow with a crew and pull
all the stops.

Chase is about to get out of the car when Donovan grabs his
shoulder. Chase stops and looks at Donovan in the eye.

DONOVAN
(serious)
Don't worry kid, we'll get'em.

CHASE
Yeah, we will.

Chase closes the door and Donovan drives off. Chase gets in
his car and starts it. He drives off to his home for a few
minutes.

After a quick rest he gathers everything he needs to scope

out the factory himself. Chase leaves his house and gets in
his car and rives to the docks where the factory is at.There
is a long wall that extends throughout the whole harbor. As
Chase pulls up to the rusty gates, he notices a figure

standing next to the gate and a parked car.

EXT. HARBOR GATES - MIDNIGHT

Chase flashes his lights and sees that it's Donovan.Chase

stops his cars and gets out.

DONOVAN
You just couldn't resist could ya?
Couldn't at the bare minimum respect
my advice?

CHASE
Donovan there is literally the bust of
the century we could be saving
countless lives tonight!

DONOVAN
OR we could jeopardize ours and many
more tonight if things go even just a
little out of proportion!

Chase walks over to where Donovan is standing next to the

rusty gate.

CHASE
OK listen, remember what Diego said
while back? He said I kinda remind him
of you.

DONOVAN
That's besides the point I-

Chase interrupts.

CHASE
(determined)
Then there is no way that there isn't
a shred of you that wants to check
that place out as badly as I do.

Donovan stops and looks up and then down, then back at Chase.

DONOVAN
You really want to do this kid?

CHASE
Yes, Yes I do.

Donovan smirks and walks to his car and pops the trunk.
