Wound, ostomy and continence care contribute as major health concerns in

Indonesia. Besides the heath expenditure it causes, the number of disabilities, job loss, and

lower quality of life are also expected to escalate as the incidence is increasing year by year.

Yet, the education and the reliable clinical research resources coming from who serve at the

forefront of theses service are not surprisingly very limited, both in quantity and quality. Most

of the available clinical research publications are extracted from data of non-Indonesian

patients, such as Westerns or other Asian populations. This brings the idea of not only by

characteristics and demographics they are different from Indonesian people, there are also

numerous lists of conditions that make them more difficult to be implemented into

Indonesian health care settings. This situation causes a broad missing gap between the

“relatable” scientific knowledge in order to satisfy the high demand of the high quality,

personalized and evidence-based health practices. To overcome this problem, we establish

International Journal of Indonesian Wound, Ostomy and Continence Advances (IJ-IWOCA).

IJ-IWOCA is the first official Indonesian international academic journal published in

English focusing on wound, ostomy, continence and other skin conditions. It covers all aspects

of the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of any types of those conditions. IJ-IWOCA

aims to help nurses, doctors, pharmacists, physical therapists, and other health professionals

to improve their practice by publishing the most clinically meaningful research. This journal
provides important, focused and the most clinically relevant studies that aims to foster and

to improve wound, stoma and continence care nationally and internationally. We have a vision

to become the leading scientific journal in wound, ostomy, continence and other skin

conditions in Indonesia by 2025. Our missions are:

1. To provide learning opportunity for academicians, clinicians and industries in Indonesia

and beyond, to enhance the scientific literacy with the spirit of mentorship.

2. To promote the evidence-based practice in wound, ostomy, continence and other skin

conditions in Indonesia and beyond, through the high-quality review process.

3. To provide a platform that promote heath care innovations and discoveries in wound,

ostomy, continence and other skin conditions.

IJ-IWOCA is expected to publish an issue every four months (three times per year) with online

and print-off versions. Join us to bring a better health care for Indonesian people and citizen

of the world by publishing your works to our journal! Submit your manuscripts and do not

hesitate to contact us by sending your burning questions to editorial-ijiwoca@outlook.co.id
