Light
Q1.
Assertion (A): The mirror used in search lights are concave
spherical mirrors.
Concave mirrors can produce both real and virtual images; they can
be upright (if virtual) or inverted (if real); they can be behind the
mirror (if virtual) or in front of the mirror (if real); they can also be
enlarged, reduced, or the same size as object.
Q1.
Assertion (A): The mirror used in search lights are concave
spherical mirrors.
.
Q2.
Assertion (A): Refractive index of glass with respect to air is
different for red light and violet light
Convex Mirrors act like Concave lenses, both reduce the image,
providing a larger field-of-view. This is why they are often employed
as the passenger-side mirror on cars.
Q4.
Assertion (A): For observing the traffic at a hairpin bend in
mountain paths a plane mirror is preferred over convex mirror
and concave mirror.
Reason (R): A convex mirror has a much larger field of view than
a plane mirror or a concave mirror.
D. A is false bt R is true
SOLUTION:
Assertion (A) is correct because the sky appears blue due to scattering of light. Our
atmosphere is comprised of oxygen and nitrogen molecules. So the wavelength of blue
& violet is comparable to these molecules. Therefore the molecules present in air scatter
the blue & violet light.
Reason (R) is false as violet has the shortest wavelength among all the colours of white
light. So, in the prism experiment it is deviated the most. As human eye is more sensitive
to blue light than violet, therefore the sky appears blue to us.
Assertion and reason are true but Reason is not the correct explanation of
assertion.
Q7.
Assertion (A): Twinkling of stars is due to the fact that refractive
index of the earth’s atmosphere fluctuates.
In myopia eye due to increased converging power of eye lens, the image of a far off
object is formed in front of the retina.
Reason (R): 100 W bulb has more resistance than 200 W bulb
Reason (R): 100 W bulb has more resistance than 200 W bulb
Reason (R): The current flows towards the lower potential that is
from positive to negative.
It is quite clear that in a battery circuit, the point of lowest potential is the
negative terminal of the battery and the current flows from higher potential to
lower potential.
Q11.
Assertion (A): In a simple battery circuit the point of lowest potential
is positive terminal of the battery.
Reason (R): The current flows towards the lower potential that is
from positive to negative.
Both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of the
assertion.
Q13.
Assertion (A): Energy of a charged particle moving at right angles
to a uniform magnetic field does not change.
The two nutrients that are found in the slurry are Nitrogen and phosphorus. We
can also see the traces of potassium in Slurry. Biogas slurry is one of the best
fertilizers for the plant because it is organic that has no ill effect. It is a liquid
fertilizer that doubles the productivity of the land.
Q18.
Assertion (A): The slurry left behind in a biogas plant is used as a
manure.
Reason (R): Large dam can ensure the storage of adequate water
for irrigation and also for generating electricity.
Reason (R): Large dam can ensure the storage of adequate water
for irrigation and also for generating electricity.
