Faith & Relationship with God

Our topic is Faith & Relationship with God and when this was relayed to me, I thought
“What is the connection between Faith & Relationship?”

In the dictionary, Faith means “strong belief or trust in someone or something” while
Relationship means “the way in which two or more people or things are connected.”

So here’s what I thought: You cannot have a relationship with God unless you have faith in
Him. You can’t do it any other way. You have to believe in Him in order for you to have a
relationship with Him.

In the Bible, it says in Hebrews 11:1 [NKJV] that “Faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.” It is by faith that we hold on to His promises. It might not
happen immediately but we have this confidence that it will happen.

What is the importance of faith?

1. Faith takes hold of the realities of God’s promises.
 Faith does not hold on to the realities of the physical realm.
 It allows us to let God’s promises to manifest in the natural realm.
 If you do not have faith, you will not be able to believe His promises (see
Deuteronomy 31:8, Jeremiah 29:11, and Philippians 4:19 for examples)
2. Faith allows us to obey God boldly.
 In the story of Noah, he built the ark because he believed in God.
 Noah had faith that was why he was so bold to create the ark even when it did
not make sense.
 In Genesis 6:8 [NKJV], it says “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”
3. Faith gives us the strength we need to overcome.
 In relation to Noah’s story, it is by his faith that he was able to complete the ark.
 Noah got the strength he needed to complete what God has tasked him to do
amidst all the mocking by the people surrounding him.
 In Genesis 9:13 [NKJV], it says “I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for
the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.”

How can you have a relationship with God?

These are some of the things that you and I can do to stay connected to Him:
1. First, accept Jesus Christ – His only begotten Son – as your Lord and Savior.
 Depending on the leading of the Holy Spirit, let’s pray a prayer of salvation for
people who have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
2. Read your Bible regularly and ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom.
3. Continuously pray and involve Him in every area of your life.

NOTES:
 I will be sharing some stories in between the flow and try to make it engaging as
possible.
 I will create a powerpoint presentation and send it by tomorrow so it is easier for
us to connect with the youth.
 Please pray for me. I need wisdom for this. I can’t do this by myself.
