Dear all Students,

As per the new course structure of BA, each paper is of 100 marks, which are divided into
internal and external examination/assessment. The internal assessment is of 25 Marks and
External Assessment is for 75 marks. For External assessment you will have to write examination
for 75 marks at the end of the year at your respective examination Centres, however for Internal
assessment you will have to write Assignments for 25 marks and submit it to the office of Centre
for Distance Education (CDE). The question for assignment are given at the end of each
lessons/Course material provided by CDE as well as uploaded on website: sndt.ac.in
Assessment weightage:
a) Internal (25 marks) and external assessment (75 Marks) is compulsory for all the
students.
b) Students have to secure the minimum passing marks in Internal and External Examination
Separately. Minimum Passing standard for internal assessment is 9/25 and for External
Examination is 26/75. Overall passing standard in any subject is 35%.
c) If any student could not submit the assignment on time or failed in internal assessment
she will not be allowed to appear for External Examination and will be declared failed in
the respective subject, as per the university rules.
Instructions for writing Assignments:
I. Assignment can be submitted in typed or in handwritten form. For typed format the word
limit is 1000-1500 for 15 marks question and 600-800 words for 10 marks question. For
handwritten matter 5-6 pages for 15 marks question and 2-3 pages for 10 marks
question. All the matter should be printed /handwritten in back to back manner.
II. Assignment should be written for individual paper i.e total 12 assignments per year
subject wise to be submitted.

IV. Mode of submission: final assignment should be submitted to CDE office in person or
through speed post so as to reach on or before 20th December, 2019
V. Caution for plagiarism and malpractices: Students should not plagiarize any material.
While using quotation or any matter/data from another source, the reference should be
properly made at the end of the assignment or in footnotes. action will be taken against
students involved as per the university norms.
