Language Carrier and How Latinx Students Struggle with it.

Language barrier has been a problem for many years and the latinx students have a lot of

struggle with that in college in order to succeed. This is a challenge that the student afront every

day because they don’t learn english so well or either way they don’t know their native language

in this case Spanish. Also this challenge can affect the communication between the parents and

the Latinx students because they can not express themselves so well in the language they do not

do so well. Another challenge Latinx students face is learning or knowing how to succeed in

college because they struggle with the language barrier. The institutions should help the Latinx

students by creating a program with a specific ESL classes in the major of the students that

would help the students to be more successful and prepare in college.

The challenge that the Latinx students are facing when going to college is the language barrier

that holds them in being academically successful. This problem has created many challenges for

the students because they do not feel capable to do well on the courses, the level that the students

is kind of low for the level of the college courses so they struggle more than the other students

and they start to droop their courses. Latinx students drop college and do not transfer to a

university of four years to continue with their education. Majority of the students prefer to work

instead of study because the struggle is too overwhelming to handle for them . The institutions as

a place for

education and opportunities should help the Latinx students in order to be more successful in

their courses.

The institution can help the Latinx students by creating a program that will provide a specific

ESL english class with the courses that they have struggled with it. For example I have some

challenges with my biology class so the program will provide me an ELS English class that

would help me with the specific course like biology. This will help the students to increase their

grades and feel more comfortable with courses and the language. The students will be more

motivated to investigate in college because they will feel more comfortable by getting a specific

ESL classes.Talking about my own experience being in the ESL program in High school helped

me to learn basic English but they don’t prepare the students for an English college level so for

the students its more difficult to achieve their goals because of the language barrier.

How the latinx students will succeed in college with the program and ESL classes. Latinx

students by being in this program will be a better way to success in college because the program

will help them with the language barrier that they struggle with it. The ESL classes will be a big

support for the latinx students by learning the specific terms on English and have a better

understanding of the language. The struggle I have been having with language barrier affects my

education because not knowing so well the language is a barrier for me to succeed in college. By

creating this program the impact that would have in my education will be huge because learning

step by step with the ESL classes the level of education and understanding will increase to be

more success in college.

Why Latinx students that struggle with language barrier should be in the program. Latinx

students should be in the program because the help that they will receive will be free and also

this will help them with learning the language so well. Also the program will probate many

benefits for them, teaching with the specific majors or classes of ESL where the students can

involve more with the language. The benefits of the program and ESL classes that the program

will provide help for the Latinx students to get better grades and also this will help them to stop

dropping college because of the classes that the program will bring in order to succeed. The

program will bring a better communication between the student and the language because the

student will start learning the language and understanding, the challenge is going to be less

difficult and the student will be more motivated to succeed in college.

Also the language barrier for latinx student can be another challenge by struggling learning their

native language and only knowing English. The struggle Latinx students have with language

barrier affects the communication with their parents because sometimes they don’t know their

native language to communicate with them and express themselves affecting sometimes their

achievement at school. In the article Language a Barrier for Latino Parents and students written

by Michel Kirst talks about how difficult it can be for the latino students to succeed in school

and really have a good communication with the parents. Michel Kirst said; “The language barrier

is still a serious risk factor for Hispanics,” expressing how serious is the problem of language

barrier for them. The serious risk factor for them is because the parents can’t have a good

communication with them it’s affecting many areas in their life, like in school or other places

where they can not express themselves in another language that they don’t know.

Language barrier is always going to be a challenge for many college students not only Latinx

students because The United States is a multicultural country where many languages are spoken

but creating this program the range of student success will be better. The level of knowing the

language so well will increase and would help them to succeed in college and the education for

them will increase because the people will start to notice more achievement of the students. Also

by doing this program the communication between the professor and the students can be a good

way to help Latinx students to achieve their goals and end with the changallen they just to have

with language barrier in college. Latinx students will succeed more as other people with

education ending the language barrier changelle.
