ABOUT SCHOOL

IMPORTANCE OF SCHOOL:
School is important because it is a tool to help prepare us for life. Not only can we learn the
basic skills to read, write and do arithmetic but we can learn about people, places and
nature. School prepares us to be the future caretakers of this planet. When our parents are
dead and gone, it gives us the knowledge to pass on to our children and the future
generation. As such, we should appreciate the great gift we have when we’re able to attend
school.

I have to agree that “Life is a school”. We learn every day, whether or not we are in a
classroom. School is important because it gives people the building blocks necessary to do
many things; criticall analyse, read, perform mathematical functions etc. Without these
building blocks people would not understand some of the things necessary in everyday life.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES IN SCHOOL:
Every activity in school life plays a significant role in development of students. Co-
curricular activities are an essential part of school life and helps in enhancing learning
process of students at school. Co-curricular activities are compulsory activities which is
important for every student to participate. Co-curricular are designed and balanced with
academic curriculum so that every student gets to learn beyond subjects.

Co-curricular activities are meant to bring social skills, intellectual skills, moral
values, personality progress and character appeal in students. It includes activities, science
lab activities, class room activities, creative arts and meditation etc.

Proper education – since, co-curricular activities are merged with academics

therefore, it ensures that students get to learn effectively. Science or computer lab practical,
experiments and projects are part of co-curricular activities.

Cultural values – students get to learn by cultural events including national events
and traditional events from different faiths including Gandhi Jayanti, Independence day,
Republic day as well as Diwali, Eid, Raksha Bandhan and many other cultural events.
Students get to learn about these events through books as well as co-curricular activities
based on different cultures organised by schools.

Personality development – students perform co-curricular activities in schools, which

help them sharpen their communication skills, expression skills, public speaking,
participation and sense of belongingness through different activities like debates, recitation.
Art and craft, creative art competitions, class room activities like reading, group discussions
etc.

Generally students perform well in their interesting subjects and activities, so

schools must take initiatives for overall development of students.
ACTIVITIES DONE AT SCHOOL:
Student activities are an integral part of the school program. Qualified students must
be able to participate in any activity without regard to race, religion, national origin,
disability. Generally approved by the principal and under the direct supervision of the staff,
activities should contribute to the educational objectives of the school and should avoid
interrupting the instructional program.

One purpose of student activities is to provide opportunities for students to be

involved in the life of the school. Students experience leadership opportunities that help
them grow into well-rounded adults. Activities expand interactions among students, who
are likely to interact with others who are different from them. Thus, opportunities to
experience diversity are enhanced.
