“There is still some slash and burning yet,
but it went pretty good,” said Mayor Steve Gra-

still have more to discuss yet.”
The meeting took place at the Town Offices.
Originally council was going to go to Red Deer
for the budget meeting, but it was brought up
in council last month that they could just as
easily host the meeting here in town and for
less money. There are two budget workshops
a year, one in the fall and one in the spring,
where they discuss the capital budget and the
operating budget.

uty Chief Administrative Officer for the Town.
“Things like projects that we need done and
then just our operating costs, like what it costs
Page 21 to operate the town.”
The operating costs include things like staff
wages, electricity, gas and anything that is
needed for the day-to-day operations of the
municipality. Council reviewed everything on
the Saturday with the directors and on Sunday
they discussed what they feel is priority and
what can possibly be left for another year.

what are projects we could possibly do with-

be done right now.

Students in the enhanced French program at Holy Cross Collegiate, HCC, showcased some of the
(old Home Hardware Building) work they have done so far this year. On Nov. 16, the 21 Grade 8 students set up a French museum
in the gym. Students were assigned a decade to study from the 1900’s to 2000’s and were to present

ranging from vehicles to technology to historical events. Parents and other students in the enhanced
French program at Sacred Heart Academy were invited to come and see the museum. The enhanced
French program is new to HCC and is more advanced than the typical French program. “With the
enhanced French program, its different from the French as a second language, its much more intense.
It’s almost like immersion but not quite there,” said Rochford.
