[REVOLUTIONARY
WAR]
Essay about some of the causes of the REVOLUTIONARY WAR.
A series of political missteps between the British and colonist
made the colonist increasingly see themselves different from the
British. Events such as the Boston Massacre, Pontiac Rebellion,
and a series of propaganda pamphlets led to the American
Revolution. If America were to have a second revolution today, I
think the citizens would need to come together as one army to do
so, just like the colonist did in the 1700’s.

The Boston Massacre played a huge part in the American

Revolution. On March 5, 1770 a young merchant started to argue
with a British soldier. Soon a huge unruly crowd gathered around
the soldier, hitting him with stones and other small materials.
Finally, fellow redcoats came to the soldier’s aid and held the
crowd back. Then suddenly someone out of the crowd or a soldier
shouted “Fire” and the redcoats did so. This event had taken
place because the colonist was not happy about the Townshend
Act the British parliament passed in 1767.

The Pontiac Rebellion was also a very significant event that

took place, and also played a big part of the American Revolution.
The French Indian War came to an end in 1760, with the British
coming off victorious. The Indians were extremely outraged
because the British would construct new forts and settlers, they
lacked the reputation and fairness in dealing with Indians, and
they’re arrogance were well known amongst the Indians. Ottawa
chieftain, Pontiac held a war council with like-minded tribes in
April 1763 and plotted to takeover Fort Detroit in attempt to stop
the forts being built there. They suffered harshly in the attacking
of the British in the Battle of Bloody Run in July 31, 1763. Despite
their failures the tribes manage to make eight British forts fall.

There were a number of propaganda pamphlets that were

use to sway the colonist to fight against the British for their
independence. A man named Thomas Paine wrote many
propaganda pamphlets to sway the colonist, but the most
significant was called Common Sense, which really guided
America to their independence. The pamphlet expressed how it
was common sense to stop following King George III, and that
there struggle wasn’t just against taxes but a for freedom.

If America was to have a second revolution, I believe that all

the citizens would have to come together as one mind to defeat
our very powerful government. If we were to have events such as
the Boston Massacre and Pontiac Rebellion, it would really fuel
Americans to revolt and reclaim our independence. Propaganda
articles would also help sway Americans to fight in the revolution.
