2 "Section 1. Interoperable communication system study
3 committee; membership; duties; report; delayed
4 repeal
5 A. The interoperable communication system study committee is
6 established consisting of the following members:
7 1. The chairperson of the house of representatives public safety
8 committee and three additional members of the house of representatives who
9 are appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives, not more than
10 two of whom are from the same political party. The chairperson of the
11 house of representatives public safety committee shall serve as chairperson
12 of the study committee.
13 2. The director of the department of public safety or the director's
14 designee.
15 3. The following members who are appointed by the speaker of the
16 house of representatives:
17 (a) Two chiefs of police and two sheriffs from a county with a
18 population of eight hundred fifty thousand persons or more.
19 (b) One chief of police and one sheriff from a county with a
20 population of less than eight hundred fifty thousand persons.
21 (c) Two representatives of police associations in this state.
22 B. Study committee members are not eligible to receive compensation.

1 C. The study committee shall conduct a study on the advisability of


2 establishing an interoperable communication system in this state that
3 would:"

6 "D. On or before December 1, 2019, the study committee shall submit
7 a report regarding the study committee's activities and recommendations for
8 administrative or legislative action to the governor, the president of the
9 senate and the speaker of the house of representatives and provide a copy
10 of this report to the secretary of state.
11 E. This section is repealed from and after December 30, 2019.
12 Sec. 2. Appropriation; department of public safety; 911
13 emergency centers
14 The sum of $3,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in
15 fiscal year 2019-2020 to the department of public safety to distribute to
16 911 emergency centers in this state to facilitate emergency
17 telecommunication services."
18 Amend title to conform
