Abstrak Students learn new knowledge effectively through relevant reflection.
Reflection affects how students interact with learning materials. Studies have
found that good reflection abilities allow students to attain better learning
motivation, comprehension, and performance. Thus, it is important to help
students develop and strengthen their reflection abilities as this can enable
them to engage learning materials in a meaningful manner. Face-to-face
dialectical conversations are often used by instructors to facilitate student

reflection. However, such conventional reflection methods are usually only

usable in classroom environments, and could not be adopted for distance
learning or after class. Cloud computing could be used to solve this issue.
Instructor guidance and prompting for initiating reflection could be
seamlessly delivered to the students’ digital devices via cloud services.
Thus, instructors would be able to facilitate student reflective activities even
when outside the classroom. To achieve this objective, this study proposed a
cloud-based reflective learning environment to assist instructors and students
in developing and strengthening reflection ability during and after actual
class sessions. An additional experiment was conducted to evaluate the
effectiveness of the proposed approach in an industrial course. Results show
that the learning environment developed by this study is able to effectively
facilitate student reflection abilities and enhance their learning motivation.

Abstrak Learning in a digital era has been changed into a new paradigm since the
development of network and communication technology, such as cloud
computing, so learners have to interact with massive amount of the
information. Thus, information and personal skills play vital roles in success
of learning. Connectivism is considered a new online learning pedagogy
giving emphasis to an interactive learning in an online context. The focus of
connectivism pedagogy would be on the challenge for learners to improve

information literacy and self-efficacy. Virtual Classroom is one of the most

powerful tools to conduct an effective online learning. With the change of
learning pedagogy, virtual classroom is employed to improve the social
interaction capability by using cloud-based tools and platform. The purpose
of this research was to propose a model of connectivism learning using
cloud-based virtual classroom to enhance information literacy and
information literacy self-efficacy for undergraduate students. The model was
evaluated by 3 educational technology experts and 2 information literacy
experts. The data was analysed using content analysis and descriptive
statistics. The research results were as follows: (1) the proposed model has 5
components, namely Virtual Classroom, Cloud-based Tools, Role of
Teacher, Learning Resources and Learning Assessment. (2) The model of
connectivism learning consists of 4 steps including: (1) Aggregating, (2)
Remixing, (3) Repurposing, and (4) Feed Forward. The overall model
evaluation scores are very suitable.

Abstrak The empirical study presented here focuses upon naturalistic social
interaction in online synchronous communities within higher education. Our
interests here relate to accounting for the communicative strategies
employed by participants who are dealing with a common task, and how
these specific tasks are negotiated within the constraints and opportunities
accorded in the multimodal multilingual virtual setting. Taking sociocultural
theoretical points of departure, we focus on students' languaging and use of
tools when they have access to a range of resources inside the online
videoconferencing program. The study is based upon screen recordings of
both student-only and teacher-lead meetings during one semester in the
online course Italian for beginners offered by a Swedish university. The
analysis is two-fold: we provide an overview of the interactional patterns at
the general lesson level in the data complemented by a micro-interactional
analysis of selected slices of everyday life from two meetings. Our findings
indicate that students make use of several resources that dialectically shape
how they get positioned within the virtual community culture. These
identification processes function as ways of enriching and nurturing
learning, both of appropriating the target language, as well as enabling ways
of being in multimodal, multilingual communities of practices.

Abstrak The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a self-report
instrument that can be used to measure learning in the cognitive, affective,
and psychomotor domains. The study underwent three phases, each with its
own data collection and analysis. Phase I featured the development, testing,
and factor analysis of an 80-item instrument that addressed cognitive,
affective, and psychomotor learning that was administered to a sample of
142 online and face-to-face learners. Based on the results, the instrument
was reduced to 21 items for Phase II and tested with a new sample of 171
online and face-to-face students. The results of confirmatory factor analysis
suggested a better data fit with an even smaller 9-item instrument, which
was then administered to a new sample of 221 online and face-to-face
students in Phase III. The results of this final phase are presented along with
the resulting CAP Perceived Learning Scale, a 9-item self-report measure of
perceived cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning. Implications and
usage of the CAP Perceived Learning Scale for research and practice are
also discussed.

Abstrak Interaction has been shown to be a key component to the success of online
and blended learning, so it is crucial to understand how teachers and
students perceive the interaction within online and blended secondary
courses. Using a qualitative content analysis approach to student and teacher
focus group transcripts, this study focuses on student and teacher
perceptions of interaction in Virtual Advanced Placement courses across a
state in the northeastern United States. Viewed through the lenses of social
and teaching presence components of the community of inquiry model,
students and teachers perceived the interaction within the course very
differently, with teachers reporting largely favorable views of the interaction

and students generally viewing the interaction in opposing ways. Results of

this study suggest that a fourth presence, learning presence, warrants
consideration since without it areas of student experience in online and
blended coursework remain unaccounted for. Results of this coding scheme
show that we can do more to communicate both the expectations and the
process of communication between students and teachers in online and
blended coursework, especially at the secondary level.

Abstrak The Rapid technological developments makes learning views change as
well. In the past learning was only done in the classroom with print media
provided by the teacher, now through the use of the internet teachers can
carry out learning anywhere and anytime. Therefore such learning can
facilitate teachers to carry out dynamic learning and can control students in
learning outside the classroom. Edmodo is a platform that is widely used in
elearning based learning. Edmodo has been designed as a learning facebook,
teachers and students as well as parents can see learning in Edmodo's class
called virtual classes, which become students in Edmodo class have been
arranged in advance by the teacher so that learning conversations can only
be seen by teachers and students, so that the level privacy can be better
maintained. Through the platform provided by Edmodo the teacher is able to
provide assignments in the form of exercises, quizzes in the form of images,
audio or others easily, through the use of Edmodo it is hoped that teachers
can improve students' understanding of the material and the existence of
dynamic and effective learning because learning can be implemented
anytime and anywhere.

Abstrak To deal with the current need for flexible learning trajectories giving access
to a more diverse group of learners, synchronous hybrid virtual classrooms
have been designed to connect both onsite students and remote students
during synchronous teaching. Given synchronous blended learning is
relatively new, there are only few studies that have investigated its use and
effectiveness. Furthermore, the existing literature is mostly exploratory and
qualitative in nature. This present study meets the need for empirical,
theory-driven research. More specific, this study has set up an experiment to
investigate how different learning settings can affect students' relatedness,
intrinsic motivation and learning achievement in the context of a
synchronous learning space. The Self-Determination Theory (SDT) namely
stresses that relatedness is a contributing factor for intrinsic motivation and
indirectly also predicts learning achievement. Although there are numerous
studies using SDT in various contexts, only limited studies used this theory
to examine learning in the hybrid virtual classroom comparing different
learning settings and its effects on relatedness, intrinsic motivation and
learning achievement. The educational setting depends on whether students
are physically present and thus attend the lecture face-to-face (F2F) or
remotely (virtual), and on whether the setting is the same for all students
(pure) or mixed (hybrid). This study presents the results of an experimental
within-subjects design study comparing the students' learning experiences as
F2F versus virtual student in the pure or hybrid setting. A mixed-methods
approach is used including real-time measurements of intrinsic motivation

next to retrospective self-report surveys and interviews. Also the effect of

quizzes has been consistently investigated. The results show that although
the hybrid virtual classroom is promising regarding flexibility in education
as it gives students the choice where to attend the course, it is also the most
challenging one to teach in and to learn in as a remote participant. It has
been found that both the relatedness to peers and the intrinsic motivation is
the lowest in the hybrid-virtual setting. Yet, our results show that launching
quizzes is positively related to all students’ motivation. Further research that
implements different kinds of quizzes and at different time intervals is
necessary to validate this finding in the context of the hybrid virtual
classroom. Future research should also investigate how relatedness between
the remote students and their on-campus counterparts can be improved by
means of instructional interventions.

Abstrak The paper focuses on the E-learning Physics course, which we introduced in
a test form in the teaching of physics at the University of Defence in Brno.
Previously, traditional form of teaching has ceased to be unattractive for

increase student’s interest in studying physics. We introduce E-learning
course students through an interactive whiteboard. This kind of approach of
the teaching is desirable. The paper presents a multimedia presentation on

is a graphical interpretation, allowing students to better understand the

subject matter. The inclusion of interactivity and multimedia elements in the
teaching of physics serves as a convenient means of awakening interest in
students and enhances students' self-logical thinking. Further studies using

Abstrak The increase of student’s disengagement is a problem in many developed
countries’ educational systems. This paper presents our approach on how the
usage of VLEs (Virtual Learning Environments) can be traced and used to
enhance the teaching quality so as to improve engagement. We focus our
work on secondary education. The question is not to predict the performance
of students, from the collected data, which is always controversial; or just
define a set of pre-established metrics, obtained from the digital data
contained into the VLE, and monitor them, indirectly inducing an
assessment regime. The aim is to look beyond the traces left by students and
to measure the motivation of a student in a particular task, of a given subject,
and in a specific day. For this purpose, we rely on the psychometric theory
of measurement to build a composite index of motivation and we embed it
into a Learning Analytics system. The ultimate goal of this system is to
provide teachers and stakeholders with objective and accurate (quasi) real
time information about students’ motivation for learning, and hence
adequately adapt and personalize the teaching methodologies and strategies
in classrooms. The approach is general and can also be used in tertiary
education for training students and researchers in High Performance and
Data Intensive Computing.

Abstrak Face-to-face communication with students remains the gold standard in
teaching; the effectiveness of this approach to learning is commonly and
regularly assessed by students' evaluation of teaching and peer reviews of
teaching. Critics note that increases in on-line education are driven more by
economic forces than consistent evidence to show their long-term
effectiveness or acceptance by students. Numerous studies report that
students in higher education found their external studies comparatively more
challenging than face-to-face delivery. Identifying how educators might best
provide sufficient and effective personal support for students studying in the
external mode continues to challenge educators. Opportunities do exist for
blending on-line course work with synchronous interactions between
students and their teachers but evaluations of these innovations rarely appear
in the literature.

Abstrak The practice of plagiarism is not a strange thing anymore, especially among
the students that almost every day working on tasks assigned by the lecturer.
The practice of plagiarism is done by the exchange of source code that have
been successful. Detecting plagiarism practices is a solution that should be
done so that the fraudulent actions can be minimized. Overall, the plagiarism
detection software can provide a useful contribution to minimize plagiarism.
Using the software can be deterrent for students to take a plagiarism.
However, using this software does not provide the final answer. Software
only detects and notifies any duplication. Therefore, the intervention of
manual inspection and assessment is still needed. The design result obtained
by a plagiarism detection system model for programming assignment in a
virtual classroom based on Moodle and delivery system alerts for the
student. The test results show that the software can detect any similarities in
the assignment by generating a percentage of similarity between two files or
many files. In addition, the software can deliver alerts from the lecturer for
the students that plagiarism is detected using SMS Gateway.

Abstrak Following the trend of increased interest by students to take online courses
and by institutions to offer them, scholars have taken many different
approaches to understand what makes one student successful in online
learning while another may fail. This study proposes that using the
situational theory of publics will provide a better understanding of online
learning success. The situational theory of publics states that an individual’s

ability to recognize the value of a situation and the desire and ability to
remove obstacles in that situation will lead to greater involvement in that
situation. Results from a survey of students (n ¼ 182) who completed an
online “Introduction to Public Relations” course shows that awareness of
course concepts and recognition that the field was important for their
post-college careers and that the students’ abilities to overcome course and
technical constraints significantly impacted students’ information processing
abilities, which lead to greater involvement in the class and greater exam
scores. The implications of the findings are discussed to better inform online
instructors about methods to increase awareness and involvement in the
course and reduce constraints to participation. Ó 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All

Abstrak The continuous advancement in the field of high speed online services has
opened the door for various social services. One such area is education.
There are many underprivileged persons in the world who do not have
access to quality education. Concerning this, we propose a Virtual
Classroom system that provides users a real-life experience of a classroom
environment without the need of physical presence of either the instructor or
the student. In this paper, we discuss the architecture of such a system and
the methodology used in developing such a system and later describes the
results achieved through using it.

Abstrak Cloud computing is an innovative information technology that has been
applied to education and has facilitated the development of cloud computing
classrooms; however, student behavioral intention toward cloud computing
remains unclear. Most researchers have evaluated, integrated, or compared
only few theories to examine user behavioral intention. In this study, we
tested, compared, and unified six well-known theories, namely service
quality, self-efficacy, the motivational model, the technology acceptance
model, the theory of reasoned action or theory of planned behavior, and
innovation diffusion theory, in the context of cloud computing classrooms.
This empirical study was conducted using an online survey. The data
collected from the samples (n=478) were analyzed using structural equation
modeling. We independently analyzed each theory, formulating a united
model. The analysis yielded three valuable findings. First, all six theoretical
models and the united model exhibited adequate explanatory power. Second,
variance explanation, Chi square statistics, effect size, and predictive
relevance results revealed the ranking importance of the theoretical models.
Third, the united model provided a comprehensive understanding of the
factors that significantly affect college students’ behavioral intention toward
a cloud computing classroom. The discussions and implications of this study
are critical for researchers and practitioners.

Abstrak Our research has highlighted the fact that a major advantage offered by the
use of collaborative projects by organizing virtual classrooms, is represented
by opening a stock of interactive media resources available globally.
Students can explore areas of interest in an organized collective manner. The
information found can be used for planning, problem solving activities,
homework and essay writing. This way of organizing is essential for creating
more student-centred learning environments of exploration and research,
where the teacher takes other roles than sole provider of information.
