Reading the Play
There are four puppet characters in this play:

Percy Pig Pete Pig Sometimes the Puppeteer

there are some tips for you with a friend. Divide the parts
on pages 6-9. between you.
The play is made up of lines. Next to each line there is a
name so you know who should be speaking.

I'm Percy Pig and I like to have fun. I don't want


to spend all day building a brick house. I'll build

my home from straw. That won't take too long.

Sometimes there are stage directions. They are


suggestions for things you or your puppets might do at

Hold up the straw house prop next to Percy.

* Cardboard * Paint stirring sticks * Gray felt or fake fur

Decorate the shapes

Making Props
What you need
* Cardboard Pigs' houses
* Paint or colored Cut out three cardboard houses and tape each

Paint the house to look

Making a Theater

Decorate the theater with
3 colored paper or paints. Stick
extra cardboard shapes on if you
like, such as a pointed top.

Stand the theater on a table

behind it with your puppets and
book. Prop the book up inside,
or lay it flat on the table. Then
practice before you invite an
audience to watch your play.
The Three Little Pigs c^
Talk to your audience.
Take down Pete Pig. Make some banging noises as if he's

busy building (Try banging a roUed-up newspaper on the


floor). Then show the brick house prop and Pete Pig.
In one hand, hold Percy behind the straw house to show
that Percy is in his home. Hold the Wolf in the other

hand. Make some growling and sniffing noises.

Move the Wolf nearer to Percy's house


Hold Polly behind the stick house in one hand, and hold
theWolf in the other.

Move the Wolf near to the house. Sniff and make a


knocking noise.
No, no, wicked Wolf. I won't let you in! Not by j ^

the hair of my chinny-chin chin!

The Wolf keeps blowing and panting for a while.

Take the Wolf and the house off so only Pete is onstage.
Move the Wolf alon^ the sta^e towards the fire

Watch out, piggy! I'm coming


down the chimney!

Wolf
Take the Wolf off. Pop your head up
along with Pete Pig. Speak to the audience.
