NTU takes research to new heights with Huawei data sharing system

Challenge
The existing IT infrastructure at the university was constructed
with little unified planning and standards in mind. The system
composed of multiple disconnected components built by each
department, hindering information sharing between departments
as well as the sharing of teaching and research functionalities.
This resulted in repeated planning and inefficiencies.

Solution
NTU selected the Huawei OceanStor 9000 distrbuted file
storage to build a centralised resource pool. In early 2017, a
resource pool with 1 PB capacity was deployed and has been
expanded twice since then, leaving the current total capacity at
6 PB. More and more departments have begun to upload
teaching and research data in the resource pool, allowing them
the convenience of sharing teaching materials and research
documents.
To ensure data security, NTU established a disaster recovery
site which leverages the asynchronous replication function of
OceanStor 9000 to prevent service interruptions caused by
accidents, ensure data storage reliability and data sharing

UOW: Using Innovative ICT to Build an Agile Campus Network

Background
UOW is the largest ICT research and development center in Australia. It has
30,000 students and 2,000 staff.
UOW had been confronted with problems including low Wi-Fi coverage and
poor service experience in its hotel-style student dormitories. UOW urgently
needed to upgrade its wireless network.

Solution
The innovative agile distributed AP solution deploys RUs inside each room
in cross manner and uses dual-band APs to provide gigabit wireless access Wireless covers 200 rooms in phase 1
capability.
Free mobility achieves user-centric fine-grained access control.
Devices on the entire network are virtualized into a single device for
simplified management.

Benefits
The customer achieves comprehensive Wi-Fi coverage, improves
network performance by 20%, and reduces costs by 20%.
The customer achieves GUI-based network access management and
control, simplifies the network device management mode, and
reduces the overall management difficulty.
