Bassianus (Bass) Corellius grew up as a child of privilege and his childhood in Cheydinhal in

Cyrodiil lacked for nothing. His father, Gaius, worked as an advisor for Count Andel Indarys
while his mother Alessia was a member of the local Mage’s Guild. He very much took after his
mother, spending his days reading and living largely in his own world and was not particularly
fond of playing with other kids, not out of a dislike of people but he preferred knowledge and
imagination.

Growing up in Cheydinhall, he spent a lot of time around Dunmer culture and most of his small
circle of friends were Dunmer. While the Dunmer of Cheydinhal had grown more distant from
the main Dunmer culture due to their lives and priorities in Cyrodiil, Bass was infinitely curious
about their culture. He wanted to know more of their ancestor worship, their views of the Daedra
and their worship of the Tribunal among other things. He would often get shut down in his
discussions and questions but his curiosity never ceased.

This pattern of living continued when Bass decided to become a scholar of Dunmer culture.
After the eruption of Red Mountain and the invasion of Morrowind by the Argonians, the Dunmer
were living in a diaspora and records of their culture and history needed to be maintained for the
Empire. Additionally, thanks to the tutelage of his mother, Bass achieved some proficiency in
magic and continued those studies in the imperial city. With the tenuous peace between the
Aldmeri dominion and the Empire and banditry and monsters on the rise, the world was
becoming a more dangerous place and he needed to know how to defend himself. He also
developed a master/familiar relationship with his weasel Mika and she now accompanies him
everywhere he goes.

After finishing his studies under professor Marius Tullo in the Imperial City, he was given a grant
by his university to document the Dunmer diaspora in Skyrim, specifically in Windhelm, and
what he saw appalled him. People packed into squalid conditions without living space, no social
services being provided and agitators like Frilgeth Horse-Breaker pushing Jarl Ulfric to crack
down on the Dunmer and their liberties, which he recently acted upon by forcing every Dunmer
to live in the Grey Quarter. At first wanting to simply document their lives, Bass now became
sympathetic to their plight, and eventually became an organizer in the Dunmer community and
their supporters for equal rights and fair treatment. Bass was an organizer of a protest against
how the Dunmer are treated where a fight broke out between a young Dunmer man and a town
guard of Windhelm. Bass was then arrested for “inciting violence” and sent to Helgen, where he
would be “tried”
