Rosette fitting

The Rosette is laser cut into Birch plywood for strength, designed to fit into the
same size hole in the soundboard resting on a ledge created by the circular
backing piece /reinforcement. (also Birch)

1. Cut the hole for he rosette into the soundboard, this should be 2” or
50.08mm, using a circle/rosette cutter or with a bench drill a hole cutter
or wide forstner bit. Tip: If you stick masking tape to the back of the
soundboard and masking tape to a waste piece of mdf and a few drops
of superglue to temporarily glue them you can avoid tearout when
drilling on the reverse side.
2. On the underside of the soundboard glue the soundhole reinforcements,
leaving a small step for the rosette. Be careful of glue squeezout, clean
the glue away from the ledge.
3. If you are staining your rosette its sometimes worth doing this before
gluing, Apply glue to the edges of the rosette with Epoxy or titebond
glue. Make sure the rosette is aligned how you want them. You can use
clear plastic sheet and even pressure when clamping so you can see that
nothing has slipped or moved.
4. See the bracing sheet for suggestions on bracing, the cross brace below
the soundholes is the main one.
