 Objectives
At the end of this session, the participants should
be able to:

• Differentiate between the signs and symptoms of

hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia.
• Provide appropriate first aid for Diabetic
Emergencies.

What to do for Diabetic Emergencies
• Give any fully conscious person in a diabetic
emergency sugar candy, fruit juice, or a soft
drink containing sugar.
• If the person is unconscious, check ABC’s, and
call the physician.
• Monitor and observe victim’s condition.
• Immediately transport to the nearest health care
facility.
