Complacency is a feeling of uncritical satisfaction with oneself.

It allures you to be over confident and

losing self control. Being carried away by self praising and thinking I will do it without any actual hard
work. It is actually originated from a Latin root word ‘very pleased’, complacent people becomes too
pleased with themselves that they lose self control, even if other may or may not be satisfied to them.

When one becomes complacent, they become slower, less decisive, they begin to accumulate bad habits
and the lens from which they see gets mentally blurred with lots of blind spots. As such over the course
of time they become reactive rather than being proactive to the opportunities that are right in front of
them.

Self Satisfaction without realizing its actual importance or support is an actual danger to self esteem.
Complacent attitudes are unaware of it. Complacency must be dealt and avoided with specified
manners. Refrains to such acts are described below:

Start Everyday from a Scratch; sustainable excellence is about getting better every day. Don’t think of
part accomplishments. Avoiding day offs and think straight aiming better goals.

Surround Yourself with People Who Will Tell You like It Is; Successful people attract followers who
want to be associated with success but aren’t willing to pay the price themselves. They are motivated to
stay in someone else’s limelight.

Focus on Process instead of outcome; Just learn and adapt from past and forget unnecessary past
accomplishments. Successful people are extremely driven. They adapt for ‘Work-Life-Balance’, they
should build time for Rest, Relaxations, hobbies, and spend time with their friends and especially with
family.

One of my habits includes Mismanagements. When I moved to Pakistan, I thought my Math skills are
quite efficient regarding the skills of Pakistan, being unaware of practice makes you perfect and I got
carried away and did not score well in my finals. But after realizing, I worked hard, even if I thought I
knew the solutions, I still practiced, and now (even unknowingly) I score the highest in Math.

Another habit includes over confidence. In my previous institute I was selected as a Cricket captain of
my team, on the first match of the tournament I was like I can do all the winnings myself alone. Due to
this complacent attitude, I underestimated my opponent and did not perform well. I realized my mistake
after a tragic loss. And eventually I planned my team and performed surprisingly well and won the cup.
