VISI Installation and Prerequisites

Introduction

This setup installs VISI on your PC.

It is not necessary to uninstall earlier installations of the same version of VISI, but you should not
install this version over earlier VISI releases.

The great majority of the installation options are self-explanatory. Those which require further detail
are described below:-

Microsoft DirectX support.

There is no need to install this if you use OpenGL graphic support, or have already
installed DirectX support. OpenGL is the default graphic support system.

Prerequisites

The installation will not start if an existing installation of VISI.exe or other VISI services or
processes are currently running.
To install VISI you need administrative privileges.

Operating system

This installation will not function on operating systems prior to Windows 7. The processor chip
must support the SSE2 instruction set. (All 64 bit processors support SSE2).
Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, 64 bit version only, are supported.
Only Professional version of the listed operating system is supported.

System requirements

VISI has the following system requirements:

VISI uses an enhanced processor instruction command set (SSE2) for faster processing. However
this means that VISI is not available on processors that do not support this feature.

Memory - A minimum of 4GB RAM.

1
Graphics

OpenGL or DirectX graphics card with at least 1280 x 1024 resolution. The recommended graphic
cards for VISI are the ATI FirePro series and the NVidia Quadro series. VISI uses on board
graphics memory if it is available. In most cases 512MB of graphics memory is sufficient.

OpenGL - OpenGL graphics cards must support OpenGL 3.0

DirectX - DirectX graphics cards must support DirectX 9.0c

Graphic drivers

The users should use the latest driver appropriate to their card and O.S..

Power users are recommended to use:

- Windows 7 Professional or later O.S. 64 bit version with 16GB RAM.

- Graphic board supporting either OpenGL or DirectX with a minimum1920 x 1080 resolution,
supporting at least 65.000 colours

-SSD HardDisk

The standard VISI installation installs every component of the package, including components that
may not be part of the installation that you have ordered. Thus every installation is complete,
although only those modules licensed will be visible and available to you. If you wish to licence
other modules at a later date, then it is only necessary to obtain a password for that module.
For the same reason the regularly provided updates, also update the complete package.

Password

VISI can be installed without a password, but a password for every type of installation, including
evaluation and demonstration installations, is essential for the system to run.

The information below applies to users installing stand alone licences. Network licence users
should refer to their network administrator.

Passwords are based on the lock code of your PC. The lock code depends either on the hardware
characteristics of the PC or on the dongle attached to it.
When the installation is complete you may choose to run the CLS Licence Manager that will
generate the lock code, and allow you to apply for a password.
If you are using a dongle then attach it now. If you are not using a dongle then remove any that is
attached.
If you do not use a dongle then the lock code is based on your network card. Wireless cards will be
selected in preference to embedded cards. Ensure that the card on which you wish to base the
password is enabled, and that any temporary card (including USB cards / mobile phones) are
disconnected or disabled.

Microsoft Msxml 4.0 SP3
Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 runtime
