I. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Leasdile and Simmons Ltd. is a small manufacturing company that makes sunglasses that are
sold to general public as an own label item. There are many small producers like Leasdile and Simmons
in the market who would love to have contracts with one of the major supermarket chains. Current
contract with supplying Tesco is going to expire next year. Tesco would like to negotiate new contract.
Leasdile and Simmons Ltd. had always operated with a traditional quality control system.

II. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:


 How the company reduce cost and wastage?

Sub Problem: How the company will be able to adapt and achieve zero defects and total
quality management?

III. POINT OF VIEW


The point of view of this study is based on the Managing Director of the Leasdille and Simmons Ltd. The
point of the Managing Director is to use the modern method of monitoring the quality of their product.
The managing director have a right thing in her mind that reducing wastages and rectifying any faults
that causes them defects.

IV. STATEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVE


 To achieve and apply the Zero Defects and Total Quality Management
 To maintain the clients and partnership in the company
 To reduce cost and wastage in the company through the use of TQM

V. AREAS OF CONSIDERATION
STRENGHT

 Leasdile and Simmons Ltd able to negotiate and produced products to supermarkets and other
clients given that there’s a lot of competitors serving same products

WEAKNESSES

 The company still using traditional quality control system.


 The current wasteful production and re-working strategy of the company that results to poor
quality, sub-standard and defect products

OPPORTUNITY

 To maintain Tesco and make more contract with other company

TREATS

 There are many competitors in the market.

VI. ALTERNATIVE COURSE OF ACTION


ACA#1.
USE OF MODERN TOTAL QUALITY SYSTEM

ADVANTAGES

 Products are tested for quality at every step in the production process
 Shop floor staff are in charge of monitoring their own quality
 Quality must every employees concern

DISADVANTAGE

 Need for company-wide commitment to quality improvement

ACA#2.

CONTINUOUS PRODUCT AND PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

ADVANTAGES

 reducing waste or increased productivity


 The quality finished product will improved
 Decrease defect in every product

DISADVANTAGE

 With many production process, changing an old ways that is everyone is used to do, is not easy
to achieve

USE OF NEW QUALITY EQUIPMENT FOR PRODUCTION

ADVANTAGES

 Increases productivity and directs the organization towards competitiveness, which is vital for
today's organizations
 Efficiency is increased as well as the product quality
 The company can have confidence to turn out high-quality goods without error

DISADVANTAGE

 New equipment will come and company will start comparing which is better
