Madam:

In connection with the Continuous Learning Package of Students and Teachers in the
Mathematics Learning Area and as a response to the DepEd call for continuous search for an
avenue to improve our performance in the transfer of learning to our students; I am earnestly and
sincerely requesting your office to allow me to conduct school-based income-generating project
entitled “Backyard Ginger Culture to Raise Funds for the Reproduction of Learning
Modules to Enhance Literacy and Numerical Performance in Mathematics.” The said
endeavour is on-going this school year 2018 to 2019 and will be continued next school year 2019 to
2020.

The Income-Generating Project aims to:

1. develop values and good traits such as love of work and nature,
resourcefulness, self-reliance and initiative;
2. make students aware of the wise use of their leisure time;
3. keep surroundings clean and green;
4. raise the level of livelihood program through income generating projects
in the class; and
5. generate funds for the printing and reproduction of learning materials in
mathematics.

I believe that teaching and learning process is most effective if the Mathematics 7 eModules
distributed to them is tandem with printed replica of the learning materials.

I am hoping for approval regarding this endeavor.

Thank you!

Very truly yours,

8. RATIONALE

The economic recession that we are experiencing coupled with the peak inflation of
6.7% compel us to resource ways and means searching for additional income and income-
generating project is an answer. Backyard gardening and vegetable culture can help a lot
and even generate fund for our daily needs. It will also open an avenue to enhance learning
in Mathematics through reproduction of modules to be utilized in our Mathematics class.
The proper care of our environment should be the concern of every Filipino,
especially our students. One of the ways to care our surroundings is the clean and green
program of the government and the one billion trees a year proposed by the Aquino
administration. Thus, the proponent conducted this income-generating project in order to
produce fund for the production of learning modules in Mathematics classes.
Furthermore, this will also teach them with the following values;
 learning how to earn for a living,
 promoting beautification,
 watershed education,
 producing food,
 stimulating creativity, and
 encouraging leadership & service.
As a matter of fact these livelihood skills that the learners will acquire from the school
can also be applied and replicated in their respective households.

9. OBJECTIVES
This income-generating project aimed to:
1. develop values and good traits such as love of work and nature, resourcefulness, self-
reliance and initiative.
2. Make students aware of the wise use of their leisure time,

4. Raise the level of livelihood program through income generating projects in the class, and
5. Generate funds for the printing and reproduction of learning modules in Mathematics.

10. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project entitled “ Backyard Ginger Culture to Raise Funds for Productions of
Learning Modules to Enhance Literacy and Numerical Performance in Mathematics”
through the initiative of Mr. Absolon T. Bugaoisan, aimed to generate funds for the printing and
reproduction of learning modules and teaching innovation for the Grade 7 students through ginger
production.

The feasible sources of the school-based enterprise both of human and of materials came
from the internal and external stakeholders. The Head Teachers and the School Principal
continuously monitoring and evaluating the progress of the project, while the teacher- proponent

13. PROJECT OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTION

A. Market endorsement

1. Product description
The product of this income generating project is a harvested matured
gingers which can be used as spices and some other product like salabat or
ginger tea.

2. Target Market

The target market includes, teachers school canteen, parents, barangay folks
and market vendors.

3. Terms of Sale

The mode sale is cash basis. Since the product is just a small scale
production.

4. Projected Sale Volume

PLANTS # of KILOGRAM AMOUNT PER KILO

Ginger 80 P75
Total P6,000.00

B. Technical

The project will be planted at the back of Room 1, DANHS, Main Campus, Sta.
Rita, Aurora, Isabela, with an area of 40 square meter. I am just assigned here and I’ve
noted that this is a very good place to plant ginger because it is a closed area and under
the shades of some trees.

We are cleaning this every day and yet we got no benefit at all. However, if planted
with vegetable or ginger the place will turn green and it is also an avenue to generate
money to finance my plan to reproduce modules that will augment literacy and numerical
level to our students.

C. Financial

1. Project Cost

The project cost is just minimal because the area was back-filled using the
organic fertilizers coming from our compost file at the back of my room by my
student; and the 20 kilogram ginger seedlings was purchased only at P60 per kilo.

2. Return analysis

Plants Volume/Number of Market Price Total Sales

Pieces (in Php)
Ginger 80 kg P75/kg P6,000.00

It is evident from the table that 80 kilograms of matured ginger sold at

P75 a kilo will yield an amount of at least P6,000.00.

Since we incurred an expenses of at most P800.00, therefore there is a

profit investment of P5, 200.00.
D. Monitoring and Evaluation
The project will be monitored and evaluated by the Head Teacher in the
Mathematics Department Mrs. Merlinda D. Dante and the Education Program
Supervisor and Officer In-Chagre Madam Laila A. Taguinod.

14. PROJECT IMPLEMENTED FROM THE INCOME GENERATED

From the income generated 40 piece of modules and teaching innovations will be
printed. The breakdown of expenses is presented in the table below

Items/Articles Quantity/Unit Unit Price Amount

Bond paper 8 reams P150.00 P1, 200.00
Ink 2 sets P1, 000.00 P2,100.00
Folder 40 pieces P10.00 P400.00
Ring bind 40 pieces P50.00 P2, 000.00
Total P5, 800.00

15. SUMMARY

The Income-Generating Project entitled, “Backyard Ginger Culture to Raise

Funds for Productions of Learning Modules to Enhance Literacy and
Numerical Performance in Mathematics” is hoped to be a success. It will also serve
as laboratory of learning for the teachers and students. The parents and the barangay
officials will be inspired to have their own vegetable garden at home. Funds will be
used for the printing and reproduction of modules for students, use. All the teachers,
