Dear Achieve Families:

As we begin a new school year, I am writing to share a brief overview of our school’s safety and
security practices to highlight how school staff works with your family to continue keeping our
school community safe. The top priority at Achieve is providing a safe and secure learning
environment for our students, staff, and families by following leading safety practices.

We have a dedicated school-based safety team, led by the principal, along with a designated
school safety specialist. Achieve has a school safety plan in place for situations that arise
throughout the year. All employees receive training that outlines emergency procedures. In the
event of an emergency, school leaders work in collaboration with National Heritage Academies’
Safety team at the Service Center to ensure all necessary steps are taken.

At Achieve, we monitor all school visitors. We require all visitors to check-in and out of our
school through the main office. Each visitor, including parents and guardians, receive visitor
identification that must be worn while on school property. There are no exceptions to this policy.
You may hear your student talking about safety drills, so we wanted to provide details so you
know what to expect. During the school year, our staff and students participate in safety drills,
including weather, fire, and other security situations such as lockdown drills. In the event of an
emergency, this practice enhances the safety in the building.

As you may know, our parking lot is busy during arrival and dismissal. School leaders monitor
the parking lot during these times, however, we ask that families help by driving carefully,
following instructions, and being patient. Additionally, it is important that distractions like cell
phones are avoided during the pick-up and drop-off process.

During the year, our first priority is ensuring our scholars are safe. We do our best to
communicate with our school community in a timely fashion throughout every situation. Please
know that your patience during these situations is greatly appreciated and we will communicate
with our families as soon as we are able.

We are looking forward to another school year and the opportunity to serve your family. If you
have any questions, please call the school office at 734-397-0960.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Conley
Principal
