BSBWOR502A – Assessment Instructions for Assessment Tasks 1,2 &3.

You are part of a large multinational corporation with offices in Port Moresby. The General Manager
of the PNG Division has decided to hold a management conference. The focus of the management
conference will be on developing “high performance teams”. To illustrate how teams work together
he has decided to create three teams, Red Blue and Yellow. Each team will present an information
session at the management conference on the following topics:

Red Team - Team Motivation.

Blue Team - Leadership.

Yellow Team - Problem Solving Tools.

Within these topics, each person in the team will present on an individual subject. In other words,
there will be a main project, eg Red Team - Team Motivation, and within this main project there will
be sub-projects. Each sub-project will have a separate team leader.

You will need to obtain approval from the General Manager for your session. Use the template
“Project Proposal” to specify your proposal and get approval from the Trainer (acting as General
Manager).

First Project Meeting (eg Red Team):


Each team will present a range of sessions as detailed above. As a team, for the main project, you
need to discuss how the group will introduce these group sessions and how the group will conclude
these sessions. These discussions are led by the Group Team Leader.

As a sub-project team leader, you will need to brief your team about the subject of your topic. Use
the template “Meeting Minutes” to record your meeting.

After consultation the Group Team Leader assigns task roles to team members. Prepare a work
instructions document as part of your Group Team activity. Record the action plan using the
template “Work instructions”.

In order for your Group Team project to progress smoothly, you must also develop the following
Policy and Procedures:

a. communication policy
b. communication procedures
c. project rules
d. corrective action policy and procedure.

Each project group must also develop clear and concise work instructions for the project tasks.

Sub-project Meeting 1:

Team members will need to have both MS Word and MS PowerPoint skills to prepare the reports,
handouts and presentation slides. Conduct a gap analysis on at least two team members. Use the
two units of competency BSBITU302B Create electronic presentations and BSBITU201A Produce
simple word processed documents, as the benchmarks (standards). Use the template “Gap Analysis”
to record the result.

Using the gap analysis and the standards prepare an individual performance plan for at least two
team members for each sub-project. Use the template “Performance Management Plan” to record
the result.

Prepare an action plan as part of your team activity. Record the action plan using the template
“Action Plan”.

Second Project Meeting:

Group Team Leader conducts a follow-up meeting to discuss progress against the Action Plan:

Identify:

1. Have the introductory presentation slides been produced?


2. Have the concluding presentation slides been produced?
3. Has the gap analysis been completed on at least two team members for each sub-subject
and Performance Management Plans prepared?
4. Have the Policy and Procedures been written?
5. Have the work instructions been written?
6. Has the research been conducted on each topic?
7. Have topic slides been prepared (topic team leaders)?
8. Has an information sheet on each topic been written (topic team leaders)?

Record the meeting using the “Minutes of Meeting” template.

Report the progress to the Group Team Leader and the Trainer (topic team leaders).

Sub-project Meeting 2:

 Is the research completed for the sub-project?


 Have topic slides been prepared?
 Has an information sheet been written?
 Has the gap analysis been completed on at least two team members for each sub-subject
and Performance Management Plans prepared?
 Progress against the Performance Management Plans?

Record the meeting using the “Minutes of Meeting” template.

Record the progress against the Action Plan.

Third Project Meeting

Group Team Leader conducts a follow-up meeting to discuss progress against the Action Plan:

Identify:

1. Introductory presentation slides checked?

2. Concluding presentation slides checked?

3. Training completed for all Performance Management Plans?

4. Policy and Procedures checked?

5. Work instructions checked and modified as required?

6. Have topic slides been checked (topic team leaders)?

7. Has an information sheet on each topic been checked (topic team leaders)?

Record the meeting using the “Minutes of Meeting” template.

Report the progress to the Group Team Leader and the Trainer (topic team leaders).

Sub-project Meeting 3:

 Have topic slides presented to sub-project team?


 Information sheet presented to sub-project team?
 Training against Performance Management Plans?

Record the meeting using the “Minutes of Meeting” template.


Record the progress against the Action Plan.

Final Project Meeting

Trial the full presentation by each sub-group team leader.

Identify corrective actions.

Record the meeting using the “Minutes of Meeting” template.
