POKHARA ENGINNERING COLLEGE

Level: Bachelor F. Internal assessment Year : 2013

Programme: BE Full Marks: 100
Course: Design of RCC Structure Pass Marks: 45
Time : 3hrs.
Candidates are required to give their answers in their own words as far
as practicable.
The figures in the margin indicate full marks.
Attempt all the questions.

1. A rectangular beam section is 350 mm wide and 600 mm deep with 50 20

mm effective cover. The beam section is to be subjected to factored
moment of 182 kNm and factored shear force of 30 kN. In addition to
these, the beam section is also subjected to torsional moment of 15 kNm.
Design a beam with M20 mix and Fe415 grade steel.
2. Design a RCC slab supported on all its four edges over a room of clear 20
span 4 m × 5 m whose three adjacent edges are continuous . The live
load acting on the slab is 5 kN /m2. Use M20 mix and Fe 500 grade steel.
Finishing of floor should be considered.
3. Design a biaxial eccentrically loaded rectangular column for the 20
following data:
Pu = 1500 kN
Mux = 200 kNm
Muy = 100 kNm
Unsupported length (L) = 3.5m, effective length l ex = 3.0m, ley = 2.75m.
The column section is 300×500 mm along x and y axis respectively;
grade of concrete M20 and grade of steel as Fe500. Provide symmetrical
reinforcements.
3 Design a Isolated footing with all check procedures . 16
SBC= 10 kN/m2
Axial factored load= 3000 kN
Column size= 40 cmx40 cm with 10 mm dia 6 nos of bars
Depth of foundation: can be assumed as per site condition
Density of soil= can be assumed as per site condition
