TOMAS MAPUA (1954)

 the founder and first president of the Mapúa Institute


of Technology
 was the first registered architect in the Philippines and
first worked at the Philippine Bureau of Public Works
 one of the pensionado students of the United States
 joined the competition for the design of the new
school building initiated by the La Sallian Brothers. He won
the competition against nine other entries and was awarded
with a prize of P5,000.00.

 an H-shaped four-storey structure built in neoclassical style in the Philippines.


 The LaSallian, the official student newspaper of the university, identifies it as "DLSU's most
historic building."
 It is the only Philippine structure featured in the book 1001 Buildings You Must See Before
You Die: The World’s Architectural Masterpieces
