Commencement of construction in new work front (Between Ch. 202+500 & Ch. 203+800) without
implementing safety measures as per standard construction practice

Dear Sir,
Please refer to above subject and letter. During routine site visit by the undersigned on 07.05.2019, it
was observed that the sub-agency engaged by the Contractor for excavation works (Hill cutting) between
Ch. 202+500 & Ch. 203+800 has been progressing with the excavation without adhering to safety
measures. It is further observed with concern that no supervisor and labors were present at excavation
site posing serious threat to the safety of the road users (Photos attached).

Contractor’s attention is also drawn to ref. 2 above, vide which this office has specifically advised the
Contractor to submit work zone traffic safety management plan prior to taking up new construction
activity in any of the sections, specially hill cut sections.
Contractor is once again advised to submit work zone traffic management plan for each new sections to
be taken up well in advance and implement the same to avoid any untoward incidents, failing which
Contractor should be sole responsible for any issue arising out of such negligence.
