ABSTRACT

Urbanization is very common in developing and developed worlds as more and more
people have the tendency of moving closer to towns and cities to acquire “privileged” social and
economic services as well as benefits. These include social and economic advantages such as better
education, health care, sanitation, housing, business opportunities, and transportation.

It is highly influenced by the notion that cities and towns have achieved better economic,
political, and social mileages compared to the rural areas. Even its a better thing for the
developement of the society, it also creates environmental and cognitive issues such as Urban Heat -
Island, overcrowding, pollution,

The Thesis aims at analyzing various problems faced by the cities due to rapid
Urbanization or Urban migration, their causes and effects to the environment and finding solutions
for these issues.

To control the decentralization and crowding of cities creating an Integrated Township in

the outskirts of the cities is considered as the modern way of solving these issues.

These townships, a “City within a City” with “walk to work” concept, built up with
public - private - partnership, integrated in nature can be the future of these cities.

Further making these Integrated Townships Eco - Friendly is the ultimate goal of the
thesis thereby solving the urbanization issues as well as the environmental impacts caused by
urbanization in modern cities.

Townships have significant synergies between environmental and economic

objectives. A clean or effective production and consumption of facilities related
to movement of people and goods, waste management and recycling, pollution prevention,
treatment, energy, abatement,
design, construction, maintenance, resource extraction, agriculture, natural resource management an
d other environmental services, are the prime component of a Eco Townships.
