Introduction

CR Ocean Engineering (CROE®) is providing Eagles Ship Management with One (1) Multi-
Stream open loop scrubber for their Crown 58 Class Series of bulk Vessels.

This Test plan is issued in view of preparation of the survey that will take place onboard.

1. EGC Operating conditions during the tests

1.1. Load and fuel sulfur content

During the commissioning tests / sea trials, the scrubber will be operating in open loop using
seawater as a scrubbing solution.

The scrubber will be tested at the following load for 1 hour.

Main Engine 85% MCR

Auxiliary Engines One (1) 80% MCR

All combustion units will burn Heavy Fuel Oil containing up to 3.5% Sulfur. Fuel samples will be
taken during the test and this is to confirm the actual sulfur level.

1.2. Air emissions

Compliance for air emissions will be verified using the installed Continuous Emission Monitors
(CEMS). In accordance with MARPOL Annex VI (Regulation 4), air emissions at the stack shall
be less than a sulfur equivalent of 0.1% which corresponds to an SO2 / CO2 ratio of 4.3 (ppm / vol
%).

SO2 and CO2 will be available at the CEMs analyzer panel and at the scrubber PLC panels.
The SO2 / CO2 ratio is available at the scrubber PLC panels.

1.3. Water discharge emissions and determination of pH limit

Compliance for water discharge emissions will be verified using the installed wash water monitors.
Wash water discharge criteria at overboard discharge points shall be based on Resolution
MEPC.259(68) :

pH criteria : pH at the overboard monitoring position shall be equal or greater than 3.0 pH in order
to achieve a minimum of 6.5 pH at 4m from the overboard discharge point. That limit is determined
by using a calculation-based methodology (computational fluid dynamics (CFD)). Details
supporting this calculation are submitted separately as part of the CFD study.

PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons): The PAH concentration discharge wash water is to be
verified and shall not exceed 50 µg/l PAHphe (normalized for a wash water flow rate of 45 t/MWh)
above the inlet water PAH concentration. Since there is no installed inlet PAH sensor, only the
discharge PAH concentration will be verified which is an accepted and more conservative
approach.

MW refers to the MCR or 85% of the power rating of the fuel oil combustion unit. The wash water
flow rate will be recorded during testing and reported.

Turbidity: Verification of the turbidity will be based on 25 NTU above the inlet water turbidity.

Nitrates: Nitrates should not exceed 60 mg/l normalized for wash water discharge rate of 45
tons/MWh.

Samples will be taken for determination of nitrate content: one (1) sample for the inlet wash water
and one (1) sample for the scrubber discharge under full load, total of (2) samples.

2. Parameters to be recorded during testing and reported

For each test (Full load or partial load), the following parameters will be recorded and reported:

- UTC Time and Date

- Engine load
- SO2 (ppm)
- CO2 (vol%)
- SO2 / CO2 (ppm / vol%)
- Wash water discharge pH.
- Wash water discharge Turbidity.
- Wash water discharge PAH.
- Wash water discharge temperature.
- Exhaust gas temperature at scrubber inlet.
- Exhaust gas temperature at scrubber outlet.
- Wash Water Pressure.
- Wash Water Flow Rate.
- Exhaust gas pressure at inlet to Scrubber.
- Exhaust gas pressure drop across Scrubber.

Samples:

- Fuel sample: one fuel sample will be taken during the tests.
- Samples for determination of nitrates: taken concurrently, for scrubber and at full load:
(2) samples total: 1 inlet and 1 outlets.

3. Test equipment and set-up

The scrubber stack includes a CEMs probe. This probe is installed in the stack at the outlet of
the scrubber in accordance with the installation drawing provided by Vimex (the CEMS system
supplier). The analyzer cabinet is used for measurement of gases from the stack sampling
probe.

The Analyzer cabinet is physically located in the funnel area near the stack. The data logger is
located in the analyzer cabinet.

The outlet wash water monitor is located below the scrubber. The sample lines are connected to
the discharge pipe located below the scrubber.

For more details about the monitors, please refer the Onboard Monitoring Manual (OMM) and
vendor user manuals.
