A. Rationale
“Coming together is a beginning.
Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success.”
- Henry Ford
Parents are vital partners in education. They influence their children’s attitudes about
learning, and support learning at home. They are a vital link between home and school.
And when they become involved in the life of the school, they make our schools better
places to learn, grow and thrive. Each parent engagement policy recognizes that student
achievement and success increase when parents are welcomed and respected as
partners, and given the support they need to contribute at home and at school.
Educators and parents generally agree that positive, supportive and open relationships
between home and school, parent and teacher are desirable. Additionally, research has
shown that parent engagement and successful parent-teacher partnerships results in
improved educational outcomes for students.
B. OBJECTIVES
The participants will:
To identify the techniques and strategies parent-teacher communication for the
children’s progress,
To apply the presented strategies to strengthen the parent and teacher partnership,
To enhance partnership between teacher-parent to improve educational outcomes
of the students.
C. Content
The greatest challenge, for both parents and teachers, is to effectively communicate. It
may should simple, but often conversation are disconnected because the teacher is
using weak communication skills and may inherent misunderstanding that could later
cause problems. When parents and teachers develop partnerships, the benefit for
students is reflected in improved educational outcomes. This training summed up outlines
for establishing school climate and a culture of mutual respect and appreciation,
identifies positive parent-teacher learning, and support learning at home. They are vital
link between home and school. And they become involved in the life of the school; they
make partnership for better relationships. The key to any successful partnership is to
establish a relationship of mutual respect and appreciation. An occasional, informal
meeting or conversation can go a long way toward fostering a productive relationship.
Teachers and parents should remind each other that one way to promote success in
school is to insure that students feel “special” about their learning. In this training the
