In the past few years, Apple has been the

only company to ship its expensive !agship
phones without a fast charger in the box.
Stubbornly, the Cupertino-based company
equipped iPhones with ever growing
batteries with the same measly 5-watt
charger that it had used for years and that
took more than 3 hours to fully recharge an
iPhone's battery.

Update: We have added iPhone 11 Pro Max

charging times below.

Now, in 2019, change has "nally arrived and

the iPhone 11 Pro series are the "rst
iPhones to come with a fast charger included
in the box.

MORE THAN 50% IN JUST HALF

AN HOUR!

It's an 18-watt wall adapter with a USB-C

connection on one end and Apple's
Lightning port on the other end connecting
to the iPhone. And yes, it's slightly bigger
than before too. So how fast is it charging?

The new 18-watt charger that comes in the box

features a USB-C connection and is bigger than
before

We measured charging times on the iPhone

11 Pro and the 11 Pro Max, and this charger
is a game-changer for Apple. It gives you
more than 50% charge in just half an hour
on the 11 Pro, and you get close to a 50%
charge in half an hour on the Max! Here are
the results of our charging test:

advertisement

iPhone 11 Pro Charging Test

in 15 minutes: 28% charge

30 minutes: 55%
45 minutes: 74%
1 hour: 85%
1 hour and 15 minutes: 94%
1 hour and 30 minutes: 98%
1 hour and 42 minutes: FULL Charge

iPhone 11 Pro Max Charging Test

in 15 minutes: 24% charge

30 minutes: 47%
45 minutes: 70%
1 hour: 82%
1 hour and 15 minutes: 90%
1 hour and 30 minutes: 95%
1 hour and 45 minutes: 98%
1 hour and 57 minutes: FULL Charge

Notice that as on most phones, the last few

percentage points were the slowest to
charge and you have to wait for much longer
for the last percent to charge up.

Overall, while the iPhone 11 Pro and the Max

are de"nitely not the fastest charging
phones on the block, they have de"nitely
improved a great deal and now you can top
them up for a quick 15 or 30 minutes if you
have forgotten to charge it over night and
not worry about it.

And below you will "nd how charging times

on the iPhone 11 Pro compare to other
iPhones as well as a few popular Android
rivals:

Include Oppo's Super VOOC in the

Even though it is undeniable that other
phones charge quicker, I suggest that you
take battery health into consideration. If
you charge your battery with 30w for six
months, it will degrade much quicker,
than with 18w.
