Summary
This study was done to know the “Effects of Mobile Game Addiction to the
Academic Performance of Grade 11 STEM Students of Notre Dame of Trece Martires S.Y.
2018-2019”. To come up on the needed data and accurate data, researchers include the
demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender and grade & strand/section.
To validate more the information, researchers tried to know the positive and negative
effects of mobile game addiction to the academic performance of the Grade 11 STEM
students. As data collected, 50% are male and 50% are female. In terms of age, 36%
belonged to the 16 years old, 50% belonged to the 17 years old, 18% belonged to the 18
years old and 2% belonged to the 19 years old. Also, based on findings there are 24%
respondents came from STEM 11-A, 16% respondents came from STEM 11-B, 20%
respondents came from STEM 11-C, 12% respondents came from STEM 11-D, 16%
respondents came from STEM 11-E, and 12% respondents came from STEM 11-F.
Conclusion
This study is designed to figure out the effects of mobile game addiction to the
academic performance of the students. Based on the data collected, researchers concluded
that there are positive and negative effects of absenteeism to the academic performance of
the students.
Mobile game addiction does not have a direct effect on students’ understanding,
both male and female, during class discussions same as to their performance tasks and
written outputs. They focus more on their studies. Most of the respondents have stated that
they understand their lessons despite being into mobile games. Moreover, they participate
well on their given performance tasks and achieve an average score on their exams.
Playing mobile games has a positive effect on the social behavior of respondents.
They still do have their companions actually and can mingle adequately. They do not
neglect their home and school responsibilities for mobile games. However, they consume
most of their time with their peers instead of spending some time with their family.
Recommendation
For the students, this study focuses on the effects of mobile game addiction to their
academic performances. Hence, this study should present them the necessary information
they needed to know that pertain to the said addiction not only to their academic
effects of mobile game addiction to their students. Furthermore, they can use this study to
determine some ways to help students who are suffering to the said addiction.
For future researchers, there are a number of gaps in this research that follow from
the findings and would benefit from further research, including realist evaluation to extend
