Narrative Report on Deworming

More than one third of the world’s population has worm infestation. This is more likely
present in children and the poor, especially those living in poor areas.
Worm infestation causes several nutritional impairments such as malabsorption of nutrients
and loss of appetite which could lead to reduction in energy and ultimately in cognitive
impairment.
This problem is being addressed by the Department of Health through the conduct of
Combined Mass Drug Administration in public schools against helminthiasis.
At Curuan National High School, another School Deworming Day was conducted on
January 24, 2020. This program aimed at deworming learners from Grade 7 to Grade 12.
The advisers made sure that students were present that day so that no one will be left
behind. We also instructed the students that they need to have a full stomach before taking the
deworming medicine. Advisers facilitated the distribution of tablets to their advisees with the
assistance of the School Nurse.
The program ended successfully with the collaborative effort of everyone. Health and
Education, particularly for school-age citizens, are essential for the growth and progress of our
nation.
