Principle: Whoever attempts to commit suicide and does anything towards killing himself is said to have
committed an offence.
135. Sallu Bhai, a lonely resident of a small village in Maharashtra, was suffering of Trigeminal
Neuralgia which is a nervous disorder which causes severe facial pain. SalluBhai was so plagued
with the intermittent severe pain that he could not even perform his common daily activities
such as eating and sleeping. Because of non– availability of good neurological doctors in the
vicinity, the disease reached its extreme stage. Due to the extreme condition of the disease, he
started living in the fear of unpredictable painful attacks, which lead to sleep deprivation and
undereating. This further caused severe anticipatory anxiety and depression, and life–
threatening malnutrition in him. After suffering with the disease for months he decided to put
an end to his misery by killing himself. He cut the nerves of his hand to bleed to death, but at the
last moment was rescued by a neighbour who took him to the hospital immediately. His life was
saved but now he is being charged of the offence of attempt to commit suicide.
A. He is not guilty, as he was going through severe depression due to the symptoms of the
disease.
B. He is not guilty, as in the lack of proper treatment he was left with no other option.

routine, Ramu kaka spread some soap mixed water on the stairs to the office, but then realized
that he had forgotten the wiper inside. He went inside to get the wiper. When he came back he
saw that a client, who was called for an urgent meeting that morning, was standing near the
stairs fuming with anger and mumbling that had he not been careful he would have broken a

living near the banks of the river and remained unconcious for few days. When he regained his
conscious, the tribals realized that Mihir had lost all memories from his past. Having no idea as to who
he was and where he was from, Mihir decided to stick with the tribal people. While Tulsi was still
grieving his husband’s death, in the jungles of Himachal Pradesh Mihir fell in love with the daughter of
the tribe’s head, Jhingalulu and decided to marry her.

before the Magistrate to save his child from any harm. Later on, in the court he wanted to
revoke his confession saying that it was not done out of free will.Could the court allow
revocation on these grounds?

Principle: When two or more persons agree to do an illegal act, it is criminal conspiracy punishable with
imprisonment.
140. Rancho and his two other friends Farhan and Raja are students at IIT Kanpur. Spending most of
the time either cribbing about their excruciating, mind–numbing life at IIT or preaching people
about life and its ways, the trio could hardly manage any time to study for their exams. In such a
situation, knowing of no other way to be able to sail through the semester exams, they decided
to flick the examination papers from the dean’s office. But for that they required the keys to his
office. So, Rancho decided to take the help of his girlfriend, Pia who was also the daughter of the
dean. Rancho talked Pia into giving the keys to the office by saying that this was the only way
Rancho could get good grades and ask for her hand from her father. Pia gave him the keys but
told her that she does not approve of Rancho’s immoral actions and that she does not want to
be associated with the act in any way, still she was doing this only because of her immense love
for him. Is Pia liable of criminal conspiracy?

and Magnu would enter the house to get the documents from Amitabh’s computer, Guddu and
Suddu would be waiting outside on guard to see that nobody is coming, whereas Suresh would
be waiting in the car prepared to leave the moment everyone was back. When the day of action
came everybody took their position as per the plan. While Chagnu and Magnu were still inside
the house, Suresh, who was the timid one in the team, started getting second thoughts about
being a part of this illegal act and ran away with the car. When the other four came out they
were shocked to see Suresh missing from the scene along with the car.

it. He also saw a mango lying on the ground and picked it up and stuffed it in his pocket. Then he
climbed the compound and came back to the field, ball in hand and mango in pocket. Mr.
