Connect the TIPSS ECM

adaptor to the engine socket
adaptor. This is connected to
the engine ECM.

 How to connect to an electronic engine

Perkins recommend the use of one of two adaptors that can be used to
communicate with an electronic engine:

• Compact Communication (Comms) • TIPSS Communication (Comms) Adaptor

Communication Adaptor

Start by having your

laptop or PC accessible.

Connect the Perkins

Communication adaptor to the
laptop through the serial port.

 Connect to an electronic engine using the TIPSS
Communication Adaptor

The serial cable will

connect to the
communication adaptor.

Now connect the serial cable to the

communication adaptor and secure
the connection by twisting the two
fixing screws into place.

Communication Adaptor

From the Communication

adaptor, you need to
connect to the engine
ECM with the ECM
connector socket.

Push the adaptor onto the engine

connection until securely attached.

You are now connected to the

engine and can begin using EST to
interact with the engine setup.

Start by having your laptop

or PC accessible.

Connect the Perkins

Compact Communication
adaptor to the laptop
through the USB port.

Compact Communication Adaptor

Now connect the USB

cable to the
communication adaptor.

Connect the remaining cable

(RJ45 or known as a ‘Network
cable’) into the reverse end of
the adaptor.

Compact Communication Adaptor

From the Compact

Communication adaptor,
you need to connect to
the engine ECM with the
ECM connector socket.

Push the adaptor onto the engine

connection until securely attached.

You are now connected to the

engine and can begin using EST to
