Planning Presentation

Task: Generate initial ideas for your promotional presentation and conduct research into their viability. To do this, first draft a
research plan to outline the possible sources of information that will help you develop your video ideas. Next, look at different
sources of information to gain a better understanding of the promotional video market and patterns of consumption. Show how
and where you have extracted information from these sources by annotating your work and producing a report. Be sure to write
a final conclusion detailing how relevant you found the whole process and be sure that you have included a range of sources.
The information you gather must be targeted and relevant to your ideas and will form the basis of your promotional presentation
which you will present to the recording company executives. You must work independently to apply research methods and
techniques to near-promotional expectations.

Here at SIBRecords we make history. In order to make history you need three key things; trust, knowledge and talent. Yet most
importantly what we can do… I want to let you in to what we know. First being, what’s the purpose in music videos? Music videos
can range from a black screen to cinematic masterpieces but they fulfil the same purpose, they promote the music to the
audience. Now yes, there are several different types of music videos, such as a narrative or a performance. These videos have
their own individual purposes which either convey a story or your musical talent. But when creating such work with SIBRecords
you’re in control of your vision, you can tell a visual story through your music or you can express a concept through intricate
storytelling, with us. You have a blank canvas with every song you make. Now, getting into the presentation. The first ever music
video… Created by Tony Bennet in 1956 the song a Stranger in Paradise portrayed Bennet strolling down Hyde Park whilst the
song played in the background. Although very simplistic this was the beginning of something insane. This creation created a
whole industry as we know it today. Although Tony Bennet was the originator, the legendary band of the Beatles were the true
ones to revolutionize the music video industry. Their performance music video for their hit song A Hard Day’s Night portrayed all
members of the band on stage, in front of a crowd as multiple camera angles at different shot types showed the band
performing. This video was the stepping stone for music videos as we know them today. But, before we get too carried away
about modern days’ music videos let’s take a trip down the past decades and explore the history of music videos. I’ve already
talked to you all about Tony Bennet, The Beatles but I haven’t touched on this. There was a Canadian show produced in 1964,
Singalong Jubilee. Artists would prerecord their song, go on location, record and it would be shown to a national audience. But
wham I telling you about this? This format of recording, going on location and recording is still used today nearly 60 years later…
That’s amazing. But Singalong Jubilee wasn’t the only show to do something like this. Top of the Pops. A show which featured
artists like Queen and David Bowe was a televised show in the United Kingdom where artists would perform their greatest hits in
front of an audience. A variety of camera angles would capture the performance, indulging everyone who watched. Following
that, I want to talk about the development of distribution of music videos from years and years ago up until now. Over a decade
ago the main distributor for music videos was television. Programmes such as MTV would broadcast artist’s music videos as
fans of the artist would watch at home. Either that or they’d have to purchase a VHS tape… However, as we know. In today’s age
we have social platforms where we can publish our work onto websites such as YouTube. This benefits us in so many ways but
how? Factors such as it’s free to upload the music video, we can add tags to target the video towards our target audience, we
can get sponsors on the video and we gain income from every person who views the video. Furthermore, it’s better for the
audience. As I said television or VHS tapes were the only solutions back in the past. But now music videos are accessible where
ever and whenever. With modern technology our audience can watch your music video as soon as it’s released. Now. Let’s talk
about your upcoming, future music videos and how we’d go about planning. We know that you’re keen to have an input in this,
and you will. You will be the forefront of creativity when working with us. You tell us your idea, your vision and we will make it
reality. We will need you for storyboarding, where you can work with one of our world class artists and you can leave the paper
work in regards to location scouting, reports, risk assessment and all that to us. Our main job in planning, is to make your vision
a reality to perfection. Demographics. A demographic is a specific sector of population who have been segregated due to one or
many common factors. Having a demographic will allow you to forecast sales, predict future sales thus, we’ll know what to do to
attract a larger audience. Your demographic is decided by your music, your music videos house style and the way you present
yourself. We won’t decide what demographic you target. That’s up to you, you are your own person and you should have as
much freedom as you deserve. However, once you’ve decided we will mold your brands identity around this demographics’
preferences and interests by doing surveys and understanding their psychographic. Previously, we worked with iconic artists
such as Queen, Eminem, Ariana Grande and so many more. We want you to be as successful as them and maybe even more.
We can see you selling out stadiums across the globe. Nevertheless, there’s something we need to focus on first. Branding.
Branding is the way in which you present yourself to your audience, your brand image is determined via your house style, your
music and who you are and is developed through promotional material such as television and radio interviews. Having a unique
brand will attract a wider audience and will separate you from other artists who make the same genre music or follow a similar
style. Along the same line as branding, I’d like to talk about genre. The genre of your music ties into the demographic of your
audience, as well as this, it affects your brand image and can affect the theme of your music videos. However, if sticking to the
codes and conventions of one genre doesn’t work for you then let’s make you original, different to all modern performers. One
of the greatest songs ever created called Bohemian Rhapsody is notorious for its different genres, the song alternates between
hard rock and opera and it made ripples in the music industry. We can do that together, you just say the word. We will take on
your aspired genre or genres and link it with your branding to make the most unique and entertaining videos possible. My
penultimate point is regarding synergy. Synergy is when two or more media platforms combine to create a promotional video. At
SIBRecords we will utilize our links and connections to the film industry in order to get your song as a theme for and a list movie.
The reason synergy is so popular is because it allows both artists from either media platform to promote their work. And in the
process something amazing is produced. Finally, why work with us? Well the answer is simple. If you want to be remembered,
have a lost lasting impression on anybody who views your video. Then join us. We make history, we have extensive knowledge
on the past, the present and the future of music videos. If you choose us, we’ll strive for you, we will make your music video the
best it can possibly be and we will ensure that you make a ripple in the music industry just like we have in the past. Thank you
for listening.
