Unit 22 (Single Camera Production)

Living With a Ghost.

Planning

The Series (Concept - Ghost)

Why? By having a sitcom type show centred around a ghost it allows several narratives to be
explored in a comedic way. For example, the lack of boundaries as ghosts are physically
incapable of having boundaries therefore by having the ghost character interrupt his human
roommate it would cause for comedic effect.

Contingency Plan

Potential Problems Solutions

Actors unable to film (illness, injury, etc.) Out Reschedule to film of a different day/film
of the actors control. alternate scenes that don’t feature the
specific actor on leave.

Damaged/OOC (Out of Charge) Equipment. Always bring spare batteries and chargers,
etc. Also use personal equipment in the case
of damaged substitutes.

Unable to use location (Permission issues, Either try and find alternate locations on a
booking issues, etc.) different scheduled day or submit for a permit.

Shooting Schedule & Plan

Plan > Shooting will take over a month. This is due to the fact that appearance features have to
differ in between shots (longer hair, beard, different clothes). This will give a more realistic
output to the audience by making them feel more involved within the show.

Casting

Image Description

Jack Overton -
I chose myself to be the main character as I
have previous acting experience in various
roles within my school media productions. As
well as this, as it is my acting and directing I
know exactly what I want out of the scenes
and how to act through them. Finally,
accessibility. As it is me I am always available
to my own schedule therefore it is one less
actor to worry about in terms of scheduling
and booking.

Serena Pizzarossa -
Serena was a good fit for the role of the ghost
as she displays the conventions of being fairly
short and she her schedule matches with
mine therefore her availability for shooting is
very practical.
Connor Hickey -
Connor doesn’t have a large role within the
series cold opening. However, his voice is
that of the interviewer when the main
protagonist is questioned about his
experiences whilst living with a ghost. I chose
Connor as he has previous experience
working collectively in media groups and on
film projects therefore, he can come in useful,
giving ideas to the production team about
possible changes to the narrative/script.

Equipment
For Living With a Ghost (short series) I have decided to use a Sony A7Sii. It’s dynamic range
and settings allow me to make up to standard professional content. The lighting is obviously
used in order to give the show a more movie-like quality, like the ronin gimbal.
