1 SCOPE
This test package describes the Hydrostatic Test of station piping section of utility water
supply System at HTS station and details all preparation work, test activities and
reinstatement works to be performed as per the approved method statement 325-QD60-
F-4002_Rev.1.

2 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS
The hydro-test is in compliance with:
1) 325-QD60-F-4002_Rev.1 - Method statement for pressure test of station piping;
2) 325-QP40-L-8004 Line list for MHFL-3 Rev.1
3) ASME B31.4 Pipeline Transportation Systems for Liquid Hydrocarbons and other
Liquids;
4) Project procedure manual;
5) Specification M19 Fabrication And Installation of Station Piping -Document No.

3 PROCEDURE

3.1 Spool Removing & Cleaning

According to 325-QD60-F-4002 the pipe spools should be hand cleaned with the
water flush for several times, after cleaning finish, the separate RFI should be
requested to Engineer for verification.
3.2 Temporary Blind Installation
All blind flanges should be installed correctly for this water system spools, please
see the attachment for the details of spools connection and the list of temporary
blinds which also includes the filling water point and drain point.

3.3 Manifold Preparation

Safety Relief Valve will be installed on the Manifold, we set pressure is 9 bar
which is less than maximum allowable test pressure 16 bar for PN16 HDPE pipe,
and the manifold which used in hydrostatic test should be tested and accepted by
ILF/SWCC.
3.4 Filling Water
All blind flanges should be installed correctly before filling water. Potable water
which provided by SWCC shall be used to fill spools, for this water system, about
1 m3 potable water needed, The 2”nozzle shall be used for filling water with water
cart, during filling period, vent valve must be open using for air escape, if
necessary, stop filling for a moment, and then proceed. We calculate the exact
internal volume based upon the as-build isometrics, the volume is calculated as
below: π
V= D2 ∗ L
4

V = The volume of pipe [m3]

D= Inside diameter [m]
L= The length of pipe [m]

3.5 Hydro-test.
Observing the vent valve, if there is no air bubble in the water from the vent valve,
the filling shall be stopped and pressure gauge shall be installed.
Start pressure rising, all the valves of this test package should be opened 50%, and
all vent and drain valves shall be closed with blind flanges or plug. If any leakage
happened, mark leak point, Sinopec shall stop rising and release pressure, repair
the leak and rise pressure again. As guideline max, pressure change rate of 10
psi/min. Pressurizing shall be done in steps: each pressure rise of 5 to 10 bar. During
pressurizing, for this pipe section, we take pressure for 4 steps: first time at 25% of
test pressure (1.87 bar), keep ten minutes to check leak or not; then at 50% of test
pressure (3.75 bar), keep ten minutes to check leak or not; then at 75%of test
pressure (5.62 bar),hold this pressure for 24 hours, and last time at 100% of test
pressure (7.5 bar). We will hold the last pressure (7.5 bar) for 24 hours, pressure
and temperature will be recorded at an interval of 30 min. We will use the
deadweight tester and pressure recorder chart the pressure, three thermocouples
will be used to check the pipe temperature and the average soil temperature for
24 hours, one is touching the pipeline above ground, another two will be installed
underground.

(Attached line list, 325-QP40-L-8004, sheet 8).

For this pipe section, the main pipe line is underground, according to chapter 9 of 325-
QD60-F-4002 pressure hold period should be 24hrs, Hydrotest will last 24 hours, when
test finish, Sinopec will inform ILF check and decide the hydrotest is accepted or failed,
the pressure will drop and rise due to the temperature changes, According QC10-H-021-
L01 the test shall be considered accepted if the actual final pressure at the end of the 24
hours test does not deviate from the test pressure by 0.2 bar.

3.6 Engineer Present

Engineer shall be present at starting time and the ending time of hydro-test of these
spools. This is the “hold point” of Sinopec. The Sinopec and ILF responsible hydro-
test engineer will decide whether the hydro-test is acceptable or failed.

3.7 Flushing and Drain

We will cleaning the spools again with the flush water for several times after test
finish, Drain water should be released to borrow pit and pump out.

3.8 Reinstatement Activities

After test completion, the pipe spools should be cleaned and inspected by ILF
engineer. Then the accepted spools will be re-installed in original places according
to the mark and isometric drawings.

4 SAFETY
Hydro-test team shall be trained by HSE department. Adequate safety signs boards will
