 AIX on Nutanix – Ordering & Fulfilment Details

§ IBM AIX now runs fully virtualized on the Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor, including networking and storage.

§ AIX 7.2 TL 2, or later, will be the minimum required version for the IBM Hyperconverged Systems powered by Nutanix (CS series)

§ AIX on IBM Hyperconverged Systems is binary compatible with AIX on IBM PowerVM.

§ AIX can be ordered on CS821 or CS822 using the AIX monthly subscription model via IBM Passport Advantage

§ For ease of deployment, AIX, “cloud ready”, raw disk images have been made available

§ These images can be used directly for VM deployments on IBM CS series nodes

 Case Study

Summary of the requirement

A customer from the Banking Industry wanted sizing to be done for Nutanix in
order to run IBM Cloud Private workloads on POWER hardware; which will
spread across Production, DR and Testing environments
The Sizing details to be used to create Server Configurations

Techline has leveraged the sizing tool to come up with the Bill Of Material,
where customer requirements were largely captured on the Sizing
questionnaire

The final configuration consisted of two 4 node CS821 clusters for Production
and DR with SSD size of 1.9 TB and a 3 node testing cluster with RF2

The Testing Cluster BOM consisted of one 3 nodes cluster with CS821 with
256 GB RAM, and 1.9 TB SSD disks
