What's a meaningful resolution I can make (and actually keep) for 2020?
You've likely made a resolution in the past that turned out... well, let's just say it didn't turn out so well. 😞 Not this
year! ...

Accumulators by their very name have a function of 'accumulating' (Storing). Albeit this storage is under
pressure.
It is normally used in liquid applications (Fuel or lube or hydraulic systems ). The pressure of the fluid
compresses a nitrogen filled balloon on the inside of a accumulator resulting in storage of fluid. When there is a
decay of pressure due to say a sudden rise in turbine load or any other transient condition, the fluid stored in the
accumulator rushes back into the mainstream piping (actually it us pressurised reverse way by the nitrogen filled
balloon}and aids in speedy recovery of pressure.
Accumulators help in transient / turbulent conditions and prevent the fluid pressure from going abruptly low.

Accumulator plays an important role in a wind turbine.http://Accumulators are typically used along with hydraulic
power units to spike the blade pitch. Accumulators also serve as an auxiliary power storage device to quickly and
safely rotate the blade to a null position in extreme wind conditions. More importantly, in the case of an electrical
power failure, accumulators are used as the energy source to activate the brake calipers of both the high-speed
shaft and yaw-brake systems. The brake force holding time required can be as long as several days, which mean
the accumulators, must have enough pre-charged gas pressure beforehand to ensure the turbine is held under
control. It is therefore a critical maintenance issue that all accumulators have the correct nitrogen gas pre-charge
pressure at all times. Wind turbines commonly use piston type accumulators because of their smaller footprint
and high-pressure performance. Piston accumulators are commonly fitted with Minimess charging valves due to
their high-pressure capability, leak free design and safe ease of use. Hydrotechnik has developed a range of
nitrogen gas charging and testing kits specifically for the wind generation markets as well as for general
hydraulic applications. The kits all utilize leak-free Minimess gas charging valves, and have adaptors to suit
almost all modern accumulator designs even when Minimess is not fitted as standard to the accumulator
